When you're dead. That's the only true age when we will be responsible enough. Or if you're Morgan Freeman.

Same as guns ..

I can go with that. It's actually anecdotal. They are both lethal machinery. It could perhaps be based on the same legal premise with the legal age for obtaining a driver's license. Sound judgement and making informed decisions are involved (never operate machinery while under the influence). But because lasers are largely in a grey area in terms of jurisdiction, somehow it doesn't get covered for liability like golfing insurance. That's when the law and authorities have begun to interfere. :twak:

As long as you don't point it at an airplane or blind people you can be any age.

I'm not sure about any age.
The OP did say high powered lasers.
Under 10 years old it starts to get freaky for me.
I'm sure there are exceptions but fewer rather than greater.

As others above has said, age is irrelevant.

I know some people in their mid-20's who are more irresponsible than most teenagers.

I know some teenagers who are more are more responsible than most adults.

I'm 15 and own a laser with about 200mW. And I know the rules. So as already said, it goes to mature and not by age.

Hey Tim,
I'm sure you are mature enough but you MUST BE EXTRA CAREFUL!! If you hit a person or vehicle then it won't only be you in bother, it's your parents too :/

It's not just about knowing the rules, any one can learn and know the rules. But what about others that have no idea about what lasers can do. Some one who has no idea could easily walk into a beam or even purposely jump in front of it and look back towards the source. (A bit like jumping in front of a camera pulling a face.) it's not just about You knowing what to do it is also about having some understanding about what Others May Do!
