My friend Scott just told me that when he went to pay his Verizon bill today in cash they charged him a $3 fee to pay in cash. I am personally outraged that a business in the US can get away with charging a fee for accepting cash. Thought I would share.

They want everything electronic now so they can easily monitor it. There is no privacy anymore. I'm truly amazed the public let it get this far.

^ You got that right T_J ! It's only a matter of time for the mandatory implanted monitors, that give away your gps position in real time. That matched with the laser drones patrolling the skies awaiting orders to vaporize the gps target.

Seriously though, Verizon sux for that kind of manipulation. :/

Handling cash now is a pain.

Remember, they have to have somewhere to keep it safe, someone has to count it, and someone has to physically take it down to the bank. All that costs money.

When cash was king, these costs were included in the prices. Now these are "extra" cost.

There is an ever increasing number of places and businesses that will not accept cash at all now.

Peace,
dave

ya that does suck.
So does paying 216 a month for two droids...................
So as soon as i can afford the 700 plus 216 to kill our phone lines were done with Verizon.
350 Just to kill one line is stupid. And so is us not having any good service out were i live.

Problem is, the public collectively have no gonads. Do you know how many times a day I see and hear about people just ignoring or tolerating things that should be directly confronted and nipped right there? It's constant. I'm the type where I'll confront it and nip it, and people have been known to call me an asshole occasionally because of it. The bottom line is that nothing is accomplished by letting bullshit fly. In fact I think in many ways it's forcing our whole society to move backwards.

Its come down to that no ones cares about anything till it effects their comfort level in some way. Hell it took gasoline to get to ~$5 gallon before there was a big enough uproar. You read all the time of a single person who made a big change. Yet we have 300,000 people and no one cares their rights have been taken away. WTF?

And if you think it's bad in the US, Canada pays 2x because ROGERS and TELUS and FIDO all on purpose handicap the installation of repeaters to drive up the cost of phone service.
These companies should all be made crown corporations here.

On top of that they keep delaying the HTC Thunderbolt... the phone I really badly want.

It was supposed to come out Feb 14th but they moved it out of the 14-day return window for the iPhone (came out Feb 10th) which was lame. Then they moved it back again. Then they moved it to March 10th which was okay. Then they moved it back again to avoid the iPad 2 release.

GAHHHHH.

Apparently HTC is getting very mad at Verizon because of this... Hopefully HTC'll kick some sense into Verizon.
