For those of you who do not know or remember Bob Hess, he has one of the best collections of vintage lasers I've ever seen

When he brings his stuff out to a laser meet, his table is always one of the most popular

His house looks like a laser museum

He's also done some amazing holography

Bob is finally going digital
He has begun to post his collection
If we are all very lucky he may even put together a book :)
The posted info is not very extensive yet, but still well worth the visit

In addition he has some external links to other very interesting videos and articles
Perhaps he just needs a little more encouragement to post more individual pictures with "labels" :D

He is also looking to make additional contacts with people that are interested in the history of lasers and pointers

In any event, he asked me to post his contact info so that anyone interested can get the link from him
You can email him at;

bobhess57 <AATT> comcast <DOOT> net
(convert the AATT and the DOOT @ and . ;) )

Peace,
dave

Is this Eidetic over on PL? I love looking at the old lasers he shows off over there, a very unique collection, especially his massive HeNe.

I was glad I could sell my vintage Hughes argon laser to someome who will appreciate it. Will definitely have to check it out once it's all online.

He is quite well versed in older Lasers.. I've seen some of
his pics on PL..

It's too bad he had to be an A$$hat when he was a member
here.
I tried to mend things with him on PL but he still thinks he's
a God and hates anyone on LPF that does not bow down to
him since he was banned...
Too bad his character does not coincide with his knowledge..

I've spent a fairly significant amount of time with Bob.
This has been both at laser meets and at his house
As you know, I most definitely do not "bow down" to him ;)
Away from LPF, he is a fine gentleman

He just doesn't fit the culture here
(I don't ever see him fitting in here)
He wants to be "recognized" as the expert in his area that he is
He reacts negatively when that expertise is questioned
It is VERY obvious to those of us who have been here awhile, that "respect" comes very hard here at LPF, because of all the noobs that are constantly revolving through :wtf:

He fits in much better over at PL
Perhaps your two personalities just don't "mesh"
(or maybe he just doesn't like you )

Peace,
dave

Bob and Jerry are actually fairly similar in some respects ;)

Can't disagree with that...:crackup::beer:

EDIT...

Looks like BobH is still whining about his LPF Butt Hurt over
at PL... Had he not pointed at me I would have let it slide...

Here's what he had to say about LPF today...:crackup:

The average age there is 18. Drama is encouraged by the unfair "rep system" and the "Off Topic" section (in which "Other" gets third highest thread count) because it's a commercial operation. They troll, bait and ban at the drop of a hat. Look at the thread there offering access to my vintage laser collection for a good example of typical trolling with an unnecessary thread derailing personal attack from their favorite meter-tinkerer.
