ah yes! (Sorry, the camera is low resolution, but it's all I've got.) The lenses are covered in my grubby little fingerprints. It is quite humid, and I'm quite sweaty as we have quite zero A/C.

It may also be worth noting that the goggles have a clear acrylic lens in front of the laser barrier to prevent wear and tear to the front side of the laser barrier, in case of dropping it, scratching it...or pointing your laser at your goggles. The fingerprints are on the clear cover sheet, not the actual expensive stuff behind it, but the goggles unscrew so you can remove & clean the two sheets individually.

Very interesting! I'm glad to see you went through with the product! I, along with some other people are very interested in purchasing glasses like this! Do you have any idea as to how much a pair would cost?

Also, can you figure out how much a pair of IR blocking ones would be? 808 and 980nm.
And as a reference to others, you might want to check for 650nm, as that is another high powered wavelength we see around here.

I just can't get enough of looking at these! From the looks of it, they will protect a great field of view, if not the entire field!

Thats good to hear.

I PMd you BTW.

Hi again,

@ Fenzir & willpine - I checked in for prices and here's what I can do on those wavelengths:

$20/pair - 980nm @ OD 4+ only
$30/pair - 808nm @ OD 3+ and 980nm @ OD 5+ (in the same lens)
$40/pair - 808nm & 980nm, both @ OD 5+

$25/pair - OD 5+ @ 190-375 nm, OD 4+ @ 375-532 nm (the ones pictured above)

$35/pair - 650nm @ OD 3+ (not a great rating, but it's all I can afford without some kind of group buy for financial assistance.)

Do those prices seem reasonable? I feel that some are more so than others, but that's what I can do price-wise as it stands. These prices would ideally include a paint job of some kind, and maybe even shipping if I can find a super-cheap yet safe way of shipping them. I'll experiment with painting ideas and stuff this weekend and hopefully come up with something that looks nice.

Thoughts, questions, comments? All are welcome.

i would buy a pair of the 190-375 375-532 for sure

thats all i have to say

If you could find something that does a whole range of IR colors, like 780-1064nm or something like that, that would be fantastic (for those of us who have IR lasers that aren't specifically 808nm or 980nm ;) )

Looks great! There is something strangely nice about the white even tho it seems less steampunk.
What diameter are those lenses?
$40/pair - 808nm & 980nm, both @ OD 5+
Looks like that might be this filter.
Filter 445:
OD 5+ @ 190-375 nm
OD 5+ @ 760-1070 nm
OD 5+ @ 1064 nm
OD 5+ @ 10,000-11,000 nm
VLT 42.5%
If so I'm interested too. Just lenses tho (for different goggles).

Hi all,

Sorry, it's been a busy week, so I haven't made any real progress yet. I hope this weekend I will!

@HaloBlu - Yep, I checked and that appears to be correct, that IR material would cover all those. The lenses I've cut out of the orange laser-blocking material are 50mm in diameter, so just a smidge under 2 inches. I like the white a lot as well, it seems to go well with the orange color, but I can't figure out what to do to make it more faded/scuffed looking or interesting. Right now that flat white color is just missing that special something...

AlexJT I would be interested in one of your 40$ Steampunk glasses.

Please let me know when and if these are for sale!

Thanks,
Jeff
