The 2024 Election is coming fast, share your thoughts on the issues here.

It the minority doesn't have a say there is no democracy.

Packing the court will end very very badly for everyone, lets pray it doesn't have to go that way.

You're old, maybe you don't have long left and simply don't care, but people with families want stability and a chance to live free from tyranny. For them/us Trump is the only choice.

Yes, I'm older than you, but I still haven't got grey hair. Good luck with your disparaging Harris. You are gonna need it. I also got the numbers wrong of women under thirty who support Harris. It wasn't 31%. It is 38%. Trump has 10% of men in that age group.

Thanks for the reply Red. I already have a brain independently of the media, and there’s no one I’m virtue signaling to as none of my liberal friends are on a laser forum. I like looking at opinions from both sides of the aisle and understanding them thoroughly. I see the sensationalism game played by both sides. I still think when you cancel out all the noise and let the fog lift, Trump is just not a good guy to make the president. And as for age I’m mid twenties

Harris wants to nuke the senate filibuster and pack the court, this would be a huge mistake because if it came to pass that way, people will get tired of the new status quo and when republicans are voted back in, there will be no recourse for democrats, no stopping republicans from doing anything and everything they wanted to do such as banning abortion completely nationwide and anything else as well as packing the court themselves, this means Americans would face extreme change every cycle unless they kept the congress balanced which is not that easy to guarantee in a national vote.

What Harris wants to do is the definition of destroying democracy and it could destroy a lot more in the process.

Actually, Harris wants to ban the filibuster to bring a bill to law on making Roe the law of the land. It has nothing to do with stacking the SCOTUS. But, this court has made some very poor political decisions. If they found this law unconstitutional, who knows what would come next?

Civil War
If democrats held control of Congress and the WhiteHouse I'm afraid there would be no limit, republicans couldn't give them everything they wanted, so democrats would try to take it all and pass tyrannical socialism into law, I fear it could provoke the worst possible outcome.

Harris/Walz are too radical, they are not moderates and half this nation isn't going to sit still for forced authoritarian socialism, not in my opinion.

That said I don't think democrats will win all of Congress and the WhiteHouse, but you never know, our grand experiment is almost 250 years old, young voters today didn't learn the history we did in school, they don't know why our Constitution is so important.

What are you talking about? Trump has said he wants to be a dictator, His words, not mine. Harris IS a moderate. She does want to pass into law Roe with al the protections and limitations that had. Trump got Roe overturned. These are facts.

Trump makes wry jokes and the main stream media takes them out of context, ( Trumps joke was " I might be a dictaror for a day " ) he said with a smile, it was his sense of humor. Trump will not be a dictator.
Harris and Walz are NOT moderates, that's a lie !

I do wonder what would happen if democrats attempted to pack the court and persons/orgs brought lawsuits to stop it, then lower courts wrestled with injunctions and rulings appealed to the SCOTUS itself, who ruled against packing the court..... we could have a Constitutional crisis..... maybe dems could get 1 extra judge on the bench during the process in between injunction and relief ?

Then after the midterms and congress turns red, Harris would be impeached as would Walz...... this could turn into a real shit show because we have played by the rules all our lives, but if democrats pack the court, a lifetime of trusting in the system will be lost.

Democrats would nuke the filibuster for abortion, then for gun control, then for anything else they wanted to do without debating with the opposition. Debating with the opposition is democracy.

No, debating with the opposition is not democracy, majority rules is. Republicans have been fighting that reality for a long time. Theyre the ones who can only win due to the electoral college which is undemocratic, they're the ones who say, "um, actually America is a republic" when people call it a democracy (ignoring that every republic except fake ones like the Congo are also democracies, the terms are not exclusive)

I might grant that Trump was joking about the dictator for a day thing, but he certainly has authoritarian impulses. Maybe if he feels his life is threatened by democrats calling him a threat to democracy, he shouldn't do so much fascist crap and try to steal elections etc. The truth is always a defense. Trump is guilty of virtually everything the democrats accuse him of. The only other example of when a joke of his was blown out of proportion was when Kim Jong had apperantly taken a liking to a woman staffer and Trump joked that she would have to "take one for the team", and I think the media was unfair to him on that, and I guess the other is when they say he is a putin puppet. I don't think it's that simple. During his presidency he did do things that escalated tensions with Russia. I do think he likes putin though and admires him for his authoritarian nature. He did say after all that he tends to get along better with leaders the more authoritarian they are (I can't remeber the exact word he used but my paraphrase is not inappropriate)

Yes, Trump did "truth" that the constitution needed to be suspended to put him back in power. You just project onto him whatever you want him to be to the point here you deny things he has said even when there is public record, video, audio etc. It's pretty common in MAGA, and Trump encourages it.

He absolutely is a petulant Manchild "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT". He is a threat to the constitution. He violated the 1st amendment in more ways than one, and has said he wants to violate it even more. He also wants to end birthright citizenship which is in the constitution.

What does authoritarian socialism look like? I'm Inclined to think this is a contradiction of terms just like "far left liberal"

Trump says a lot of things. Many he has brought to fruition. The attack on the Capiol is one of these. The SCOTUS has had more members in the past, so it's not like this has never happened before.

1727296212107.pngThe SCOTUS has had 9 seats since 1869, but hey..... why not let the dems pack it if they think can, it could turn out to be exciting......p.s. The Capital Hill mostly peaceful protest wasn't jack shit.
