well I got a new motherboard for my computer and I am using all the old parts on the new motherboard (slowly building a new computer) I got everything off except the heat sink and processor. I can't seem to get it off no matter what I try. can someone please help me? :cryyy:

I still want to keep the old board as a back up in case something fries or dies in my (new computer).

look for any type of lever or screws that may be holding it on. do you know what kind of processor/motherboard it is?

I took everything off I could, it just seems to either be stuck on the processor itself or theres something underneath holding it on. I checked everywhere I could.

The heat sink grease dries out and acts like a weak glue.

Rotate the fan carefully to break the bond.

If the release levers are unlocked, screws removed, etc... then the grease is dried out and holding the heat sink down to the top of the processor.
