I really don't see a need for Tags... unless someone can explain a
good reason we need them..

I went through and removed a whole bunch. Pretty much ALL of the really insulting and offensive ones were posted by arenared, including all the ones in this thread. The non arenared ones were largely just immature garbage, not anything extremely offensive. Stuff like "daoo ftw" and "feces". To the couple people who wrote that - grow up!

I was alwys under the impression that tags assist in directing search requests (like google) to an internet location.. could be wrong though. I don't have a good understanding of them, myself.

That`s how I understood it. That the tags were really there more to assist in search engine searches of the forum than for us. Which makes sense I guess. I know I have never actually used the "tag search" feature is available to us in the advanced search menu. A lot of our "top 70" most used tags are about darklasers anyway. lol

Perhaps they were just trying to remove the offensive ones with gibberish?

I'm guessing "daoo ftw" means "Darkarmyofone For The Win"... Not exactly gibberish.

There's still a bunch of derogatory tags around... I'm not sure if they're from other people or not... Here's a few threads:

Hey, thanks for pointing those out, those were left over from CarnivalGame earlier. CarnivalGame is banned, but it'll take me a bit to find all of the rude tags he might have left. If anyone sees anymore, post them here and I will delete them. I am not too worried about the ones that were not arenared. Just some spontaneous immaturity from some other members who thought that no one would be able to see who it was. Nothing extraordinarily offensive either. I'm am pretty sure that that kinda stuff will stop now that everyone know that the Avery and I can see who is leaving them.

I must admit.....Everytime you see BOB Saget as a thread tag....it was me.
What can I say, I was bored and I honestly didn't think that it was doing any harm.

I won't do it again. :)

We all expected Lois to have at least 21474 more accounts , so this is not a suprise after all, is it Simon?

You and Ave will need to root it out.
Perhaps the ISP with that 10k range of IP adresses Lois can use, perhaps you can ask them specifically to ban that IP from accessing THIS forum.

Worth a shot, saving you halluva lot of trouble.
 
^ Difficult to do this ..... with dynamic IPs, it's always a possibility to ban a good user that get the same IP that a bad user had yesterday, as example ..... also, using services like anonymizers and distributed networks like tor or similar, it's practically impossible to get the real IP, and for ban one, you need to bal also all the others that use the same network ..... also again, some providers, like fastweb here in Italy as example, have an "internal routed" network (don't know how to call it in other way), that redirect the users on random IPs also during the surfing (a recent case as example, enlighted the fact that fastweb was unable to give to the police the users ID related to certain IPs, in a criminal case, cause the structure of their own internet network don't permit them to know who was using a certain IP in a certain moment)

Lots of problems, if the user don't have a static IP .....
