I know that there have been postings on this subject. I am looking for some current information (no pun intended.) I am looking for a reasonably priced bench supply...at least 10 A if not more. I do not plan on using it all the time so something reasonably priced would be nice. Anway suggestions?

My Chinese/eBay power supply has served me well. I think the 10A version is $50 or $60. YMMV though since their quality control might not be all that great. If you're dealing with exceptionally sensitive and/or expensive electronics, don't cheap out on your power supply.

HI A,
There are plenty online at a great price in the 10A range , I you don't plan on using it to much and your not going to set the new Black buck driver( 8A) ,The 5 A will be fine, Even if you are testing diodes 5A if also fine. Hope this helps a bit..

Hi ,
Riven is correct spend a little more on either a 5A or a 10A PSU.

What is your general application? Is constant current needed? What sort of regulation precision do you need? What sort of voltage range do you need and why? Will it be in use any longer than 3 minutes at a time? How did you arrive at the 10A figure?

dden4012: An extra decimal doesn't do you any good unless you have remote sensing, as voltage drops in the leads makes the faceplate readout useless. Cheap chinese stuff doesn't have remote sensing.

I didn't know. That's why I hang out here. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
