decided to do a laser / prism photo shoot before we get hammered with "Frankenstorm", which arrives tomorrow. I ordered a 40 pc Optics Kit from Optotronics consisting of different types of prisms, lens, filters, diffraction gratings, etc. Can't wait to get it this week, storm permitting, to add new laser lighting situations to photograph. Alo expecting my replacement 100mw 532 nm Hulk from Dragon Lasers and a 650nm 200mw from Laserbtb in the next 10 days. The storm we are supposed to get in NJ tomorrow may be the worst storm to ever hit NJ. We are expecting 4 to 8 inches or rain and sustained winds of over 40 mph and gusts of 80 mph for over 24 hours. Millions will lose power and be flooded. I am lucky as I am inland about 20 miles. The people on the coast of NJ, NYC. Long Island, and Conn will get it even worse.

The lasers I used are a 405nm 500mw from laserbtb, a 447nm 200mw from Dragonlasers, and a overspec 532 nm 5. Mw and overspec 650 nm 5 mw. Both of the overspec ones are from COCONUTS, as are ther prisms. The diffraction gratings are from Dragon Lasers. When I get my 100 mw 532 nm Hulk and 100mw 650 nm, there will be a better balance in color

As for the storm, we have all the supplies we wanted to get. It will be an intense 2 days ahead

Forgot, I also used a 5x beam expander from Jetlasers on the red laser on one shot. It is the shot with the wide red beams thru a transmission diffusion grating

Hey, I'll be riding out Sandy for the next day or two as well!
That's the first I've heard it called the Frankenstorm, I like it!
I'm well in-shore but we are still hearing quite a bit of warnings. (matter of fact I might go finish working on my broken generator just incase!)

Be safe & Good Luck!

Great photos btw!

EPIC pictures love what your doing with the prisms gotta love it!
Great job man keep em' coming I enjoy this kind of eye candy.
Now all you need is some some different colors 589nm and 473nm... And maybe a white laser to produce the famous picture from Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon Album cover.

Kick ass pictures man! :o What was the setup to create this? I'm still experimenting with my two prisms to get cool effects like this.

Hi Coby, I have tried all different ways of positioning the prisms. One on top of the other which forms a square and by positioning the lasers at opposite angles (almost like a triangle with the prisms at the apex and the lasers at the opposite sides of the base)

Also putting them next to each other forming a big prism out of the two.
the same configuration, but leaving a gap in between the prisms

really it is just experimenting, and what I have tried to do is get the laser to go from one prism to the other. I also use a fog machine to add just alittle haze to highlight the beams

Now I really wish I would have gotten one of those to hit my whole array on...
