Updated quantity sold, first post.

Re: Starting tonight, 13 Sept - new GB for 16xdiod

I'll be ordering 2, I just have one question what size are they? Are they the standard 5.6mm or 9mm or some funky shape?

Re: Starting tonight, 13 Sept - new GB for 16xdiod

Sorry I checked the pdf and couldn't find the size on it, I saw the power and thermal ratings. But thank you for the answer, i'm planning out the extra parts I need to order online as well.

hi,

the shipping resources page is down. you mentioned something about lowering the prices if more than 300 are ordered. if so, how will the savings be reflected to those who already paid via googlecheckout? also, what is the minimum total order quantity required? is paying first a must since the groupbuy is still tentative? or can i pay after you confirm that this GB will go through. looking forward to getting one.

thanks

Re: Starting tonight, 13 Sept - new GB for 16xdiod

Remember everyone, it would be very wise to purchase more than one!!! [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

Fixed the shipping link ! Thanks for that...
The prices will be lowered HOPEFULLY for Group Buys going forward - there would be no savings for those in teh group buy now. The minimum order I can place with this new distributer is 150 diodes, so they have to be pre-paid prior to ordering...I have over $4,000.00 tied up with my previous distributor - and it looks like I am out of luck with him. This group buy will go through, it is just a matter of when the minimum order is filled. If you wait till the last minute - you may not get in on the group buy this round - so if you are interested, get in while the getting in is good - the price reduction is NOT a sure thing - it is something I threw out there as a possibility - it REALLY depends on whether I recover either my money, or the diodes from that theif or not.... These diodes are coming from the US - therefore I have legal recourse in case anything goes South on the order. So this is about as safe as it gets for ordering :-)

Re: Starting tonight, 13 Sept - new GB for 16xdiod

Just ordered 2 to go along with Daedal's circuit. My email address is the same as my username on here, so it should be easy to see who I am. Thanks, Greg!

Re: Starting tonight, 13 Sept - new GB for 16xdiod

hi,

the policies page is down too. just to confirm, international shipping is included in the price of 17.50? also, what if in the case that this GB fails to meet the minimum of 150? will it be a refund or a top up?

thanks

Re: Starting tonight, 13 Sept - new GB for 16xdiod

Shipping WORLDWIDE is included in teh price - if you are in the U.S. it is sent via first class mail - if you are outside of the U.S. it is sent via Airmail. I have repaired the link for the policies, and checked the rest of the page, I think it is good to go now :P The GB WILL meet the minimum - but in the case that it goes all the way till the end of October without the order going in - refunds will be sent out to all.

Re: Starting tonight, 13 Sept - new GB for 16xdiod

alright...sorry about emailing you senkat, but impatience got the better part of me.

Will be ordering 3, but can say that for sure only tomorrow.

Ok, just a technical question: Although I get the general idea of Ohms, Volts and Amperes, r=u/i is not valid for all conductors. Is it valid for LDs? Or does R change with temperature?
My idea is this: I definitely want electrical protection for my (soon-to-be-mine) diodes, but battery voltage and stuff might change, so I would use a voltage regulator ic flying around here, that supports up to 2A. Now I would set the output voltage so that the current is whatever I want it to be (say 250mA with appropriate cooling). Is that a "fail-safe" solution, or might some ominous "unaccounted variables" change the whole setup and fry my diode?

Also, if I don't use the suggested Laser housings, anyone got an idea as to how to attach the lens that I have a nice beam :) ?

Re: Starting tonight, 13 Sept - new GB for 16xdiod

well if you are going to use the LM317, it should be allright, and if you put a capacitor across the LD's pins, it will "eat" the spikes, if any happen to get through. have a look for a circuit that daedal posted, it will definatley keep you LD happy ;)

Re: Starting tonight, 13 Sept - new GB for 16xdiod

Philguy - this question and many more is answered in the experiments and mods section :-) also, as a side note - I do NOT recommend running these uness they are in a housing designed for them - the housing provides excellent heat transfer to whatever type of heat sinking you will use....without that, it will make a nice flash, and go poof :(
