I now introduce to you the star wars jango fett blaster pistol mod!!

This is one of my first full laser builds so I hope you enjoy it. Some of the features that are built into this gun include full sound effects that came with the housing and a detachable laser aperture to quickly change out the laser and driver for different wavelengths.

It has a 405nm 12X laser inside the aperture. With the front piece removable though you can easily change out the laser and driver if they are both placed inside with a detachable clip (as seen below). Some of the difficulties of this build was rebuilding the entire inside of the housing as originally the speaker assembly was where the laser needed to go and removing all the stock switches that were on the circuit board and resoldering on a momentary switch on so it could be relocated away from the trigger.

All together this was a fun build to do and if you are more of a star wars fan instead of a trekkie (no offense) this might be a good build for you!

before you see the pics I would like to thank Pat for the help he gave me with showing his phaser mods for inspiration and all the pointers from his build, DTR for helping with the diode assembly and laser suggestions, and Jayrob for help in the lens selections. Also a quick thanks to the forum on laser eyewear so I could locate and purchase the correct eyewear for safety.

So without further ado here it some pictures of it.

I have not taken any full beamshots yet but will upload sometime this or next week.

Let me know what you think of it.

Nice work.
My students at LG display were impressed!
I think we got some star wars fans in the class.
No red laser?

Not for this build I wanted to have a laser that could pop balloons and light matches at farther distances then a red laser could do. However the front end can be changed out for different lasers.

Awesome Job.

Glad to see it all came together for you. Very clean build and I like the armed light triggered by the key switch.;)

True true..... The 405nm is very good for burning things at. Long distances. Much better than red. Anyways decent build and I appreciate you having safety on it too

I actually used to have this gun and was thinking the other day how awesome it would be to have a laser on it.

Seoul, thanks to your suggestions I have order 2 more of these housings to harvest the front end from to add a red laser to this build from another host. I will add some pics of them after I have it build with some beamshots.

Also I am thinking of taking a clone trooper rifle and installing a 445nm or maybe a little higher wavelength if I can locate one for a decent price.

What do you guys think of this idea before I go about starting this build. Also any suggestions would be great or if there is another star wars style weapon anyone might be interested in let me know.

(p.s. should I make a new thread for this idea or just leave it here? I don't want to be a forum hog.)

Nice build..

I really like the idea of having a replica stormtrooper blaster rifle with 635 in it.
When you press the button it would shoot a beam for a sec, not continuous.

The one in this picture costs a whooping $559.99 but is made of metal.

Yeah, but im not really a plastic fan...

The rifle i posted is not expensive considering it's made out of steel, but the problem is that it has no moving parts...

Anyway's it's just an idea.. and would be cool if someone build that.
There are video's with led's and stuff, but none with lasers.
Now that we have 635nm diodes for cheap it would be perfect for this blaster sinds 635nm diodes allready have a fat beam.

OT: i've bin holding my finger on stuff like that from movies (movie merchandise)
I just love it, but never really buyed something.
Freddy krueger gloves, darth vader helmets etc..

sm..

Very true I have a couple laser's in airsoft gun host (all under driven LPC-826s) and they are a lot of fun. The metal must add a very very nice feel to them. Some day I'll make one.

Awesome build. :D I have that exact same Jango Fett blaster pistol and had always thought of putting lasers in it. Never was sure how to do it though, so it's still just sitting there. :D
