Spyder III Pro Arctic - Questions Answered

I confirmed the g2 shipments with Colin:

It cut off right after I asked him about 3-5 days. He said if I'm in the first shipment then YES.

EDIT: One place I've never thought of trying was a sex shop... Maybe they have some 18650 operated "waterproof body massagers"?

Haha, That's actually not a bad idea. :na:

Also, I got that G2 Shipping email too. I ordered mine in Mid July so I don't think I'll be getting mine anytime soon.

Facebook update.

Wicked Lasers: G2 lasers have started shipping, new order requests for G1 lasers will no longer be accepted.
Saturday at 4:59am

I got my G1 in yesterday and started playing with it. I shined it on my leg to see how hot it actually was. Yes I am always skeptical about the claims of instantly burning skin and clothing. I held it on one spot and about 5 seconds later it started to burn me. I am very careful about my eyes though, I use the included glasses and a #5 welding lens when viewing the spot.
Question: will the welding lens protect my eyes from a direct or reflected flash?

I cannot find any information about a #5 welding lens, but a rudimentary way to test is to shine the laser through the lens with a white wall or something behind it (really quickly to avoid burning the lens). If you can see anything at all on the wall, they're too weak to use safely. If it passes that, there is still a good chance they're too weak. The only problem with the test is that you wouldn't have any safety goggles on to do it, and it would be very easy for the laser to reflect off the lenses or even the wall at a dangerous level if the lenses are especially poor, so it's a good idea not to do it.

I'm pretty sure that, especially coupled with your eyes dilating in the darkness, it is not even close to strong enough for this level of power. The stock glasses are something like OD 2.5 when you need OD 5 or up. Those welding lenses would have to cut down the light by nearly a thousand fold at least.

Are they really only 2.5 OD? The "LaserShades" that WickedLasers ships with the laser?

Yes, well some of them already have the laser and want to know how to use it's battery and charger, this whole thing is just another attempt to educate the masses of seriously immature people who did buy one of these, the danger is real.

The original battery is a POS. It would not even light the battery level diodes on the Artic, even when fully charged.
Bought a Tenergy protected 2600 (cyan) from Amazon here. Now the lights work on the Artic.
I wonder if the OEM battery is the cause of so many Artic failures, due to low current?

Here's a useful link for battery comparison. I bought the Tenergy because it was the shortest of the protected batteries (it fits!) and tested as well (if not better) than the AW 2600 that seem to be popular here.

I purchased some 2600mAh Sanyo 18650 cells, which are 65mm tall.

Seems I could've waited since according to their WickedLaser's FaceBook page, they've yet to start shipping G2's:

"We are currently working on improving our customer service. We have hired qualified personnel to help speed up answering emails. The G2s will start shipping next week as promised."

Has anyone emailed WL about their faulty Arctic and have they ever had a reply? I somehow doubt any faulty Arctic will be repaired or even replaced. If that is the case can I still go the the bank for a cashback, due to WL not replying and offering to replace or repair my Arctic?
Your only chance is that WL will honor their warranty promises.

You bank or credit card company does not guarantee the quality the products you buy with there credit card. If you used American express, they will double the warranty on some items, but if the company doesn't honor any of their warranty, then doubling that doesn't do much good anyway.

Is the threading on the Arctic lens module the same as that of the Aixiz modules? It looks the same.

Are there any other lenses available that allow the transfer of more light or reduce side-splash? Perhaps a lens that sits closer to the diode so the output diameter is smaller?

WL is getting freaking ridiculous. I ordered on June 10, #4722x, (and my other order #4866x, June 11), and I'm a mere 10 days away from the 90-day chargeback limit. I still haven't heard jack sh* from WL.

I've emailed, livechatted, submitted tickets, called, sent smoke signals, pretty much done everything except channeling the past to have a damned time capsule buried in Steve Liu's back yard.

In this time period, I was able to ship back my CNI 473nm PGL-III-C, have it rebuilt completely, and have them ship it back and recieve it; order 671nm DPSS red from CNI that also had to be custom built and receive that, and order yet another custom-built 561nm DPSS laser from CNI, have them build the thing, and ship it to me, and receive it as well. CNI tests these for a few days before shipping them out, too. And they've all worked.

While that all has gone on, Wicked hasn't managed to complete the highly technical process of shoving a projector diode into an overly-aggresive looking piece of aluminum pipe, and pull down the large lever on their soda-machine-made-thermal-paste-dispenser and fill said tube with an inordinate amount of goo, and ship it. (Without a tracking number of course. It's like Schroedinger's Cat. Or entangled quarks. If you SEE the tracking number, the laser will unship itself. The shipping itself is not observable; it only exists in theory, in which there is no unifying law.)

I've feel I've waited long enough for my 700-mw-unless-you-take-the-cap-off then it's 720 "angle detecting advanced adjustable tilt-activated focus feature" (it's kinda like an iphone or a wii, but angrier looking) multimode laser that somehow has something to do with George Lucas.

Arctic G2 Lasers have begun shipping. Due to the last-minute implementation of the SmartSwitch as well as a high volume of orders, customers who purchased first will receive priority status in the order of shipping.

If I ordered mine in the first couple of days that they went on sale, and they're being sent out "as orders were received", people in the 60xxx range should receive their Arctics well into the next US Presidential administration. Or in time to point out Halley's Comet next time it comes around.

Obviously, when (HA!) I get my Arctics, the 1300mAh specials are going directly to Hazmat. I won't even try to charge them.

Yeah. I'm venting. I know nobody here can do anything about it, but I had to vent a little. This is getting beyond the pale.

Luckily, Glenn's GB#11 should be placed soon (the order with CNI hasn't even been placed yet) and I should be able to get a PGL-III-C 447nm there.

Here's betting it'll arrive before my G2 does.

Anyone got a picture of Steve Liu that I can print out and focus all my lasers on for "therapeutic reasons" ?

I am in a similar boat.
Order #471xx, never requested a G1 or G2. Chatted about the status about 6, 4, and 2 weeks ago, and still no laser. I must have $230 invested in this "vaporware", and every week that I can't get through on chat, or get a definitive answer to "when is it shipping" it brings me closer to cancelling. :twak:
I think the stress (worry) is not worth it, because I know I will be dissappointed with it when I get it and it breaks (or is under-spec, poor divergence, etc...)
Seriously, I am on my second-to-last straw with Wicked Gayzers. :banghead:
If I had the money, I would fly to China, pick up my arctic, ask to see Steve in person to thank him with a swift "kiss" from the "business-end" of my arctic.
If we can't sue him for shafting his customers, he can't sue me for assault. :horse:
I think I will give it exactly 6 more days, then I will file a charge-back to get him where it hurts ($).
Sorry about the rant, but I need to vent somewhere.

[/rant]

You might want to check your credit card statements or terms, because my cards all used to be 90 days, now that the new consumer credit card law has kicked in, there are all only 60 days now. Yup I read each one of those long boring and small print amendments they recently send out to their card customers. You should be able to just look on the back of your cards statement if you have a very recent one and see that info; my Bank told me the whole industry is changing to 60 days because of the new consumer credit card laws.

Good luck.

Just to add to the hilarity of the situation (not really, I just don't care anymore)...

I have also ordered the Actric on June 10th, order #475xx, and I have only ever sent one email to see when it was coming about two months ago.

I still havn't heard anything else other than the "we are shipping over the next two weeks" that was a month ago.

So, I am thinking about getting my money back, and I have heard you guys talking about "charge-back" and how there is a 90, or is it 60 day time period???
Maybe this is only certain Credit Card company specific, I have just never heard of it.

If anyone can shed some light on this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :yh:

for anyone waiting on a g2, received my g2 today (47683). I was told my order was shipped in a batch with outstanding orders from 47xxx to 48xxx, so if your order number is in that range and you have not received anything, it may be on the way.
