Spot issue.

Firstly, I do know that the spot won't actually be a spot but it'll be a small line or dash, however, I'm getting a large rectangle of light that is sapping power from the actual spot. I have no idea where it comes from or how to fix it. I would like to avoid buying a new diode at all costs but if not, I'll just build another laser.

Edit: Photos properly attached this time

Looks pretty typical for a 445 with a single element lens.:)

My old diode I had on this build didn't have this issue. I am.using the same lens. That's why im confused. So, maybe a different lens?

All violet and blue diodes I have ever seen have this rectangle.
It doesn't really "sap power from the dot" because it is just extra light from the diode, not an artifact produced by an obstruction in the beam.

Well I guess that's that. I'm not concerned anymore. I just wish I could focus that rectangle into the dot I guess.

I have found that maybe 1/4-1/3 of the diodes I test have this rectangle. Nothing you can do about it.
