I had to go back and watch the video again since I didn't watch the whole thing before. He says "much more intense" a couple times before he says more powerful. I think he's just referring to how bright it is. Saying "powerful" isn't really a good way of doing that though.

Just a follow up, if anyone is curious. I got a U tube pop up notice that we got a reply from "Steve Wall" after about 2 weeks. Not to me personally but to his sight. This was the man that claimed 2W+ in a 520nm.
He is basicly saying he's a professional laser show builder for the past 20 years
He has gotten 2.759W in a 520nm This though he claims was done in highly expensive set up with top notch benched based cooling.
True or not he makes no mention about his "phaser" claim though only that his secret is a "bronze" heat sink?
He also blasted someone by saying he forgot more about lasers than this man ever knew on another account he has about a 3W 445 "phaser" and some how all the negative comments were removed?
It is a big world but i'm thinking with all his said knowledge someone here must know him. He says he is lisenced and certified in everything needed to be in lasers?
If your curious take a look at his last post and claims. I don't have the knowledge to know but i'm sure am wanting to. The link in the original OP is still up.

Yes this thread is about 2 or 3 weeks old and for those that might remember,
He's claiming he gets 2.79W from a 520nm diode.
The secret to his high power "phaser" builds is a Oilite bronze heatsink over the standard 12mm copper module.
And 2 14500's at "3000"mah. Which seems a never reached level yet
In all my years these Oilite bronze bushings were just made to be used as machinery bearings and somewhat pouris to absorb oil or grease.
On the forums iv'e read and understood that copper and aluminum are the kings of heat sink material.
This man Steve Walls says he's a master laserman and manufactures and runs certified laser projectors.
Am I missing something as in the difference in building these projectors?

@Ultron was that from 2002 laser technology?!

Projector lasers use multiple diodes with refractions and even arrays. He just contradicted himself. If that was really a 2W, they'd need only a 2-3 green diodes. :gun:

I bet his puny projectors can't do this.

Wow Trend, kudos for keeping your cool and not stooping to his choice of words. And what the heck is a "Q" switch that gives all this magical power that he claims? Then he insults you because you choose to use a 5mw 515nm diode "he called it a cheap pointer actually" for safety and because you have children? If i'm wrong also that "we" are just in it to beg for help and can't do any thing for are selves?
I think everyone here should do another U tube check in on this man Steve Walls. He has somehow managed to erase some negative comments on one of his claimed builds video.
For the sake of the forum I would look at the original OP link and Trenkilla"s Lightsaber U tube link. Hey if anything he might have some magical parts that the LPF mortals can't get.

Gotta love those unsubstantiated claims and the "I add secret ingredients" with magical properties garbage. I think the guy is mixing and matching his claims. Ask him a straight forward question about the exact diode, driver, sink and power supply for his hand held and I bet he won't come clean. There will be at least one thing in the formula that he won't reveal or if he does his LPM is off or he's cheating with it.

Not sure if your question about the Q switch is real or sarcasm. A Q switch is an optical device that is temporarily opaque to a flash device laser like a ruby rod laser that keeps the population inversion active longer to get more power out at the moment when the photons that it has absorbed make it transparent and cause the laser to fire. It goes between the ruby rod and the OC mirror. It can be used in any laser that employs a flash lamp as long as it can be placed between the lasing material and the mirror.

It was mostly in sarcasm, as I knew it could be in name but wasn't sure of it being realistic As far as your answer W...h...a...t..? Just when I think i'm learning something:thinking::whistle:

GSS, sorry. A Q switch is a device that is opaque to the laser light in a flash tube laser such as a ruby rod laser or a YAG laser. It is placed between the laser medium and the Optical output mirror. Once the flash device fires it causes the doped atoms to cause a population inversion, but without it, the laser will start to output or laser over a longer period of time and the overall usable power will be less than if the population inversion is allowed to proceed for a longer period of time. The Q switch will absorb photons until it then quickly becomes transparent to the laser light and the laser fires. This will give you a higher usable power output. If the laser, which is a pulse laser, is firing at several times a second, you will get a CW like output because the laser is firing maybe 1000 times a second. I hope this is less confusing to you.

Are you saying his build is possible or refuting his claims?
The reason he attacked me is being my comment on his video was:
"When you said 'And the part you have all been waiting for...' I was expecting to see the LPM measurements" and he got really butt-hurt.

Also it doesn't appear the video is in his channel line up. It might be because I reported it to Youtube. He in fact is trying to sell these products and is flat out lying. I reported it as such to Youtube.
