Re: FS: 445nm Diodes $33 and Diode Press Tools $10

I have one of monks presses they work great... I use a small eyeglass screwdriver
to scape off the shiny chrome on the lip of the module exposing the raw metal.

this does two things it helps in heat transfer and easy of pressing. Have a good day

edit: Monk thats the best pic yet of the 445 casio I've seen now about decanning one like you did with the ggw and giving us a micro.

That's good tips to remove the chrome on the module.

I have yet kill a 445nm Diode, if anyone want to send me a dead 445nm I will be happy to take some macros.:anyone:

Re: FS: 445nm Diodes $33 and Diode Press Tools $10

They are cheap because they are fast to make as the plunger is made from Brass which machines like butter and will mushroom out with use, where as a steel plunger will not mushroom !

Wow these are cheap! I would buy one but I already have 3. I'm surprised more people aren't getting these at such a cheap price.

I meant the diodes he's selling for $33 are cheap, not the diode press.

The Monk sold me, a long while ago, a press that was totally made out of
some strong carbon steel. Did he change his press or something?... this statement sounds somewhat negative, like his presses are inferior.

Re: FS: Diode Press Tools $10

Seeing as how the diode itself it brass and how you usually don't need that much pressure, I don't see that the press deforming would ever be a problem.

But I've got a huge furnace to heat steel to 1800F for heat treating, if mushrooming is a problem I can make a couple hundred presses :D

Back then a year and a half ago it was made from Carbon Steel and was selling for $10 as well. There is no need to use steel as the module and Diode base are made of Brass. And if it does mashroom out I rather that happens to the tool then the Diode, like in a car accident do you care more about the car of the passengers.
