Re: Osram PLT5 488NM Laser Pointer For Sale

Hi Jimmy,
I have a few Mitsu 500's and they are open can diode and they are still running after 3 years. Just don't take the lens out and you will be fine with the build. As Alaskan stated the 07E has a ball lens and do die after a while ,but the these diodes have a basic can and shouldn't be filled with the so called gas inside as the O7E..

Thanks Paul,
you and I both are hoping this diode has a happy life
Its a strange circumstance, with the diode being decanned, not my usual choice of decisions but here is hoping this sale goes well.

Pictures are guaranteed :D

Congrats on your new 488nm, as ZRaffleticket said, it's probably best that it stayed on your side of the pond!

Yes, many photos are a requirement. :D

Hey jnrpop, Good luck with the 488! I thought about buying it but my money went to a 495nm

Both are got to have wavelengths, IMHO, Bruce. Now you only have one to go. :yh:

BTW, you need to add that 495nm one to your signature.

Hi Paul,
The 495 is now in my signature. I did consider purchasing this 488 (congrats Corey!!) but since Podo has said he will have the cost for the new Sanwu RGB by Easter (a week away), I need to save my funds for that since it could be as high as 700 dollars. But perhaps the next one that shows up here for sale, I will make the purchase.

Hey, it looks good in your signature, Bruce. IDK about that Sanwu RGB laser. I am getting close to finishing my controller for the LaserLand RGB laser for $44.00. I have two of them here and the divergence of them is at least as good, if not better, than the Sanwu. The controller is a lot of work to build, but the parts aren't that much. Three channels with +12 in and a regulated +9 source for the PWMs. It has three external pots that have control from 0 output to 100% output. Linear taper pots give it great control over the individual outputs. I'd say for ~$100 anyone can have this laser with the complete control I have gotten.

Once it is finished and mounted in a project box, I plan on doing a review of the laser and the controller.
