Good luck on your sale, Evans. I hope you are able to get what you want out of it. Why did you remove the can? Just curious.

The diode window was dirty so i cleaned it with isopropyl and a cotton swab then it made it even worse so i had to order the thorlabs decan tool.

That sure is a good looking wavelength, I bet a 1/4 - 1/2 watt of it would make a beautiful beam.

Re: Osram PLT5 488NM Laser Pointer For Sale

To anyone on the fence, check out my 485nm build for pics to push you over the edge. This is one seriously nice color.

I noticed that the diode window on my diode is also a bit messy. I wonder if it's a problem with these diodes that the window gets like that? I've cleaned a 520 and 635 window just fine, but the same tricks don't seem to work on this one...

Best of luck on the sale!

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. I imagine it didn't come cheap. It would have broken my heart if it were mine.

Hi Evan,
Good luck thats a nice build by J Rob so small thats a real EDC and great WL paired with it. Oh by the way how do you like the decanning tool?? Its worth the money even if you use it now and then, but you will always have it handy.

The decan tool is great when u need to use it you only need light pressure on the handle for it to work best.

Hi Evans,

Are you offering a warranty on this? De-canned diodes are notorious for conking out as the slightest bit of dust on the die can break the laser diode. This is a tempting deal, but I am wary of purchasing something that can break so easily.

No warranty sorry because its an esd item but the laser has been well looked after i have not even taken the laser even out of the house and i dont take the lens out ever that protects the diode.

With the 07E 465 nm laser diode, they die early when de-canned, that is the concern.

Great, but 151ma is small current with plt5-488
I think 250ma is good

Yeah, at 150 mA I don't think there is too much to worry about as long as you don't remove the lens often. It is not being driven very hard at all.
