Looks about the same, only brighter... EDIT: having played with it (I mean, "experimented with it in a scientific manner) more, there is an artifact to one side that I was not seeing with the original acrylic lens. Not a deal breaker though.
I will say that this thing throws a rather impressive beam at night. It isn't a 1.5w 445 beam, but it is quite visible and nice and tight!

i finally bought one of these diodes. i should be able to run it with a linear with 2 - 3.7v bats ok, huh? like a 12x diode. just lower A.
