For Sale: 1.85W Custom Z5 Build!
For sale here is a custom-done, 1.85W Z5 build. I know this build has seen some popularity recently, and for a while, it was my collection 445nm laser. But, seeing as I recently got another 445nm that I prefer (smaller, more efficient, etc.), I figured I would let this one go.
The build was fun. I started out lathing out and then milling out my own heatsink:
Those two holes, you guessed it, are so that the heatsink can be screwed onto the host!
(Pardon the crummy photo - it was done with my old phone's camera - didn't have my new phone until I had already finished this).
I coated the bottom of the heatsink and the top of the part it screws onto with first thermal grease, but then I figured I would get better connection if I used both the screws and adhesive.
The next step was the custom focus adapter:
That was threaded out so it could accept a G2 lens and still screw nicely onto the head of the laser.
The result of all of this effort? An incredibly well-heatsinked, head-turnable focusing, 1.85W monster of a 445nm laser!
(Note, this is using an M-140 diode, not any of the new fangled H1600s or the 9mm's).
Pictures!
Beamshots! Not with smoke or any changed effects. This is how the EYE perceives it!
And finally, the LPM test shows it's stability!
As you can see, the LPM test shows that, even after 140 seconds, it only started to drop below it's rated power. Despite this, I am not "underrating" it so that it can have a remarkable duty cycle. It only drops 30mW in over two minutes.
So, specs:
Power: >1.85W
Batteries: 2x 18650
Lens: 405-G2
Heatsinking material: Aluminum
Approximate run time: 2 hours
Duty Cycle: 2 minutes on, 1 minute off
Driver: BlitzBuck
Price: $200 + shipping.
You MUST have laser safety goggles to purchase this.
You MUST be 18 years or older.
