'Solarstorm' 1W 405nm "Pocket Rocket"

Oooh, that's a gorgeous build! +Rep.

Did you go with the Nano driver? Or is that contact board hiding a drive circuit on it?

Hi alphabirth, thank you very much! :yh:
This diode has the Nano drive, and I believe as others have mentioned, it is probably set at 520mA.

@ Shakenawake, I'm going to try and send a little of that luck your way! :D
If I remember correctly you had some terrible luck a while back with these 405's even though you had them set conservatively.
Shh! Don't tell anyone, but I've killed a couple of these 405's myself. :yabbem:

Very nice beam shots and the measuring setup using your Fluke 179!! Where did you get the heatsinks for it?

Thanks Seoul, the beam shots did turn out pretty good for a405nm! The photos come real close to what I percieved the wavelength to to be while taking the pics.

The heatsink for my Ophir was made by none other than Mrcrouse of custom host fame.
Here is link to his sales thread. -LINK- (Even though he is out of business, there are dimensions and diagrams in this thread, if someone were inclined to make one of their own). :D

Also, here is a thread I made of my LPM build using his Ophir heatsink. -LINK-

I just ordered another one, fingers crossed.

I also thought the beam shots you got are great. 1W 405s are so freaking beautiful, my favorite wavelength, and I have 465s and a 589

edit:

just got it, it does about 900mW, hope it lasts a while

How have I not seen this buddy, very very nice I like it a lot, let me go back take a second look, awesome bro!

On another note I honestly think you have such a high reading because your beam is on the edge of the Ophir sensor, it's no big deal though over under a watt it's still awesome buddy!

Thanks badboy, glad you've finally seen it!
On the LPM, it's hard to tell; I tested multiple times at various amounts of de-focus to include the whole beam diameter, but not focused to a point as I didn't want to risk damage to the sensor surface.
I actually had it read 40~50mW more on one occasion, but it was for such a short period, I didn't bother to use it. I'll give it another try and see if there's any discrepancy in the readings. :)
