Silicone Wire GB #2

I don't have it yet. It suppose to ship to me on the 23rd.
He's giving me a 60 day term for payment. I'm sure it will be all sold way before then.

according to the manufacturer the max is 2.2A Though people have been running 1.8A through the wire and cannot feel it heating up at all.

Well, my electronics knowledge is admittedly pretty fuzzy, but isn't the carrying capacity of a conductor measured in watts (volts times amps)? In other words, 2.2 amps at 3vots would equal 6.6 watts whereas 2.2 amps at 120 volts would be 264 watts.

Since laser circuits work with different battery voltages as well as different LD voltages, it seems to me it would be useful to know how many volts that 2.2 amp wire rating is based on.

Hey, I'm not worried. I'm sure it's suitable for our builds and I already ordered some. I'm just curious. :)

I'm addmittedly retarded with these kinds of things. The manufacturer said....

"Hi Matthew.

The maximum Voltage I would recommend 150 Volts and Amp for 26 Awg is 0.5 amp for power transmission. 2 AMP is for chassis wiring Below is the link for wire chart with Gauge and voltage drop down.

Well, this is getting beyond my level of competence too, but the power transmission number seems to indicate the wire can handle 75 watts of current load. How that translates to the "chassis wiring" capability I don't know, but it sounds like there's plenty of headroom. The only other concern might be the dielectric strength of the .01" silicone insulation. Again, at the power levels we're working with, I'd think that wouldn't be a problem either unless there's a severe kink in the wire.

I'd be interested to hear opinions from EE types.

If you can hang on to your money for a couple more days the wire should be here :D
I'd prefer to collect payments all at once so i don't have payments scattered all throughout my paypal history.
