My tracking info says: 2012/10/17 22:10 MISSISSAUGA, International item arrived in Canada and will be reviewed by Customs

The laser I purchased is from lazerer, and is a 200mW Red laser (with keys so I'm guessing its FDA approved)...

Will it be seized? How long will it be at the customs? Thanks guys!

Btw: It's being shipped to Quebec(Montreal) And is currently at Mississauga in Ontario!
 





Assuming you ordered the LZCS (since that's the only 200mw red I see on Lazerer with keys), it is NOT FDA approved. In order to be approved it would need the keys along with a shutter at the aperture, a 5 second delay, and a pull pin of sorts to kill the laser IIRC. I had a shipment of [7?] lasers get held up at customs once. A wide variety of colors, all above 50mw. I was very worried as I tracked it for several days and it went unchanged, stuck in customs hardly 60 miles away. The tracking never changed but still I received my products just fine. No sure fire way to know if it will be seized or not, but I can't recall anyone having an item seized when ordering from Lazerer. I've never ordered from them personally, but I believe on the customs declaration they write that it's a flashlight and mark it as a gift. Just give it a few days, and I bet it will arrive :)

The FDA requirements are for the USA not Canada.
Canadian Customs no longer allows high powered Lasers
into Canada.

If they decide to seize it... it may take 6-12 moths before
they let you know.
Then you can contest their decision by providing proof that
you are legally entitled to have/use the Laser.

Is a 200mW handheld really considered "high power"?

Thanks for pointing that out! I guess I should have put into consideration that it's a different country :shhh: Do you have a cat with a hairy anus RedDart?
 
Canada Customs can and will seize lasers. I got a notice 6 months after my arctic was seized, so they also like to take their time.

No need for double post. You can always edit your last post.

It seems the laser has passed the customs and moved on in the shipping process.
