Which 16340 batteries are you using in it? Are they button-top or flat top? Are they protected or unprotected? What are their voltages? I'm asking because I have the same laser on the way and don't have batteries yet.

Hey there.

I'm just using some cheap Ebay 16340s, and they work great. 3.7 volts, 1200 maH. They have to be button-top. Not sure about the protection.

so, for $10 you can get 4 batteries from the US and a charger: 4 x ULTRAFIRE1630 880mAh 3 6V Rechargeable Batteries 16340 Dual Charger | eBay

OR, you can do like I did can get four batteries from china, for $1 each. a charger from china is also only 1-$2.

Chinese battery link: 3 7V 1200mAh 16340 Li ion Rechargeable Battery for UltraFire Flashlight OB | eBay

Chinese charger: Battery Charger Recharge Dock for AA 18650 14500 CR123A 16340 17650 | eBay


The downside to these Chinese ones is that they take two weeks to arrive, but your laser should take longer if you chose normal shipping O_o. The batteries need to be charged after about 20 minutes total use.

Or you could buy better quality batteries which is something you will want the more you get into this hobby. Hardly a none uses protected cells with lasers.

Thank you very much for the information! I've heard bad things about Ultrafire batteries though. But the ones I was planning to get cost very little more. I'll make sure to use the button-top ones.

Someone else told me this as well. Why wouldn't someone want to use protected cells when possible? The other member who told me this said it was because they didn't fit in the battery compartment, although I don't see why this would be the case with lasers versus any other device. I asked TheJoker about it and he didn't seem to think it mattered it they were protected or not. I'm not aware if he ever tried using both types.

So I finally got a chance to watch your review-- very nice! That beam is stunning, I can't guess what it looks like in person.

Also, your voice sounds a lot like mine, so that's neat!

Why was the laser hard to focus?

The laser is hard to focus because the focusing ring keeps screwing off :P

That's neat that out voices sound similar! The beam is stunning in person, the blue is incredible.

I hear plumber's tape can hold the ring in place, though I'm wary to use it. If a flap comes off the threads and gets in the way of beam, you can roast the diode.

Have you tried making a stiffer spring out of a paperclip or whatever?
