I hear plumber's tape can hold the ring in place, though I'm wary to use it. If a flap comes off the threads and gets in the way of beam, you can roast the diode.

Have you tried making a stiffer spring out of a paperclip or whatever?

You can use teflon but in the long run it is not recommended. I usually do send spring in. With the 9mm diode you got to cut the spring sometimes so the tension is a bit off.
 





The laser is hard to focus because the focusing ring keeps screwing off :P

That's neat that out voices sound similar! The beam is stunning in person, the blue is incredible.
Iv'e had no problem with the focus ring on mine coming off with just finger tightening to the barrel. Yes the best way is to tighten is to take lens barrel out completely first. Unless i'm missing something?
