Hi, I'm new to this community and I'm really looking forward to have a great experience here. Hey everyone
Tl;dr: Please help me find a low-powered, high quality green laser pen with pocket clip.
I'm currently searching for a green laser for pointing purposes and I'm hoping for your advice. More precisely, I'm searching for a laser in the pen-style, with pocket clip if possible (!), I'm not quite sure what power I want and if I want a DPSS or a direct diode. I sometimes need to point through medium-sized rooms, and I don't want the dot to get too big at the other side, so a good divergence would be nice. As I said, it's strictly for pointing purposes, so I don't want a focus that I can change accidentally or have to re-adjust before using the laser. I already own an older 532nm "Hulk" from DragonLasers, so I wouldn't mind paying an extra 10 bucks for a direct diode I guess as it's still somewhat exotic to me.
It's important that it got a proper metal housing and a switch that won't break after 2 days like in those cheap generic laser pens. I'm currently facing the question "IR filter or no IR filter" (only in case of a 532nm of course), but I think an IR filter is important as others might use the laser as well. I've read that some cheaper lasers (especially low-powered models) are often overspec and sometimes even emit 50% IR, maybe someone can tell me something about that, too. My 532nm should be around 100mW, but I can't tell if 20mW is too much to point across a room on a white wall. I don't want to get blinded by the dot, but I also don't want to search for it. So I wouldn't know what to take if I had to choose between 5mW and 20mW...
I already looked through some of the known laser websites (lazerer, warnlasers, laserbtb and stuff), but even if you think one of them sells something I would want, please go ahead and shoot me a link or something.
Thanks for your answers and advice!
Simon
