The Scorcher Jr. 445nm 3.2w+ w/strobe

UPDATE: This build has been sold !!

Greetings,

Just built a Scorcher Jr., though this one uses a little different heatsink. Does not use a drop in module, and has the diode clamped in the heatsink. Everything else is the same. 9mm, 445nm-450nm diode with 4 mode driver, G9 lens. Uses 2x26650 or 2x18650 batteries with included adapter sleeves. The output of this build, measured using my LaserBee 3.7w USB LPM, and 2 fully charged MNKE 26650 batteries, is at 3.2w.
Asking price for this build is $235 CONUS and does include shipping and paypal fees.
It does not include safety glasses, batteries or charger. You should already have these, and if not take the time to look for good quality equipment. I would not trust the cheap glasses, batteries/charger that normally are included for my safety is paramount. Good Safety glasses and such are not cheap. Get good quality...

I was holding the laser when testing and that's why at the end it went up and down a bit. She runs solid at 3.2w

Re: The Scorcher & The Scorcher Jr. 445nm 3.4w+ w/strobe

Just received mine today... a very nice unit and quite a steal at the price. The brightness and color strength of this thing has to be seen in person to appreciate... absolutely dazzling. This is my first blue.

Seller was quick to reply to my questions and was very professional. Thanks Moe!

Anyone know if it is possible to modify it to directly select the mode instead of cycling thru them? I can wield a soldering iron and do some light machining but would like to get an idea beforehand what might be involved. If it's beyond my skills, that's good to know as well.

Greetings,

Thank you for the kind words, :worthy:

Would be fairly easy to just change the driver and pop in one with the setting you wanted. Only other way would be a multi position switch. Of course you can just do as most of us and have too many lasers. :eg:

cheers,
Moe

The Scorcher Jr. 445nm 3w+ w/strobe

Greetings,

Just finished another Scorcher Jr. build, exactly like the previous build. Uses a zerolaser MX900 host, 9mm 445nm diode from DTR and lens is G9, pulled from diode. Batteries are 2x26650 or 2x18650 with included adapter sleeves.

UPDATE : This build has been sold !
Greetings,

I have a new Scorcher build I just finished and this one is using a little different driver. It's a 5 mode 2.3a constant current driver very similar to my normal driver. This driver unlike the other does retain memory so will power on with the mode it was last on, or the next mode. It has 3 power settings, strobe and s.o.s. The duty cycle recommended is 3 minutes, but 4 or more is attainable. Running at 2.3a the output is just under 3w, but should provide longer diode life. The rest of the build is the same, using the MX900 host with heatsink and focus adapter by Mrcrouse, 9mm 445nm diode from DTR with G9 lens pulled from the diode. Uses 2x26650 or 2x18650 batteries with included adapter sleeves. Does not come with batteries, charger or glasses.

Will post pic's of the build later today.

P.S. Check back over the next couple days as I will have 3 more ready using the normal driver....

cheers,
Moe
