Greetings,

Both of The Scorcher's have been sold !! :thanks:

Available builds are The Scorcher Jr., The Copper Scorcher, and an RT MX900 build using Rick's first heatsink. The Scorcher Jr. has pics and power output already posted. While there is a pic of The Copper Scorcher and it's output I will post a separate message with some better pics.

Thanks again to all who have shown interest and a special thanks to those who have purchased my builds and to the LPF admins !!! :thanks:

Re: The Scorcher & The Scorcher Jr. 445nm 3.4w+ w/strobe

Greetings,

Thought I would try to make a video of switching The Scorcher from a laser to a flashlight and back again. It is poor quality as my camera is not very good, but I tried to show how easy it is to switch it.

I know it is not very good but hopefully it is good enough to show how to switch it.

cheers,
Moe

The Copper Scorcher 445nm 2.8w+ w/strobe

UPDATE: The Copper Scorcher has been SOLD !!

Greetings,

This build uses a copper heatsink from Rick Trent, 9mm diode from DTR which is pressed into the heatsink. The lens is an extracted G9 from the 9mm diode. As with all the MX900 builds batteries are 2x26650 or 2x18650 with included adapter sleeves. The duty cycle is 2 minutes. The asking price for this build is $185 not including shipping.

UPDATE: This build has been sold !!
Greetings,

This laser is a Rick Trent MX900 build using the first type of heatsink he was using. Was bought as a 3.5w and has almost no runtime on it. Here are some pic's...

The Scorcher & The Scorcher Jr. Duty Cycle

Greetings,

Check out the duty cycle on The Scorcher when @ 50% power !! This is an older build with peak output @100%, 2.9w. Normal builds average 3.1w and higher.
As you can see the output is pretty constant at 1400mw with very little instability. Tests were done using a LaserBee 3.7w USB LPM @73 degrees, the build using 2 fully charged Panasonic NCR18650A batteries. After 10 minutes the build was slightly warmer then room temp, so when @50% power it is basically continuous.....

Currently available builds are The Copper Scorcher, The Scorcher Jr. and one of the first RT MX900 builds. Should have more Scorcher's available as soon as I get the heatsinks from Mrcrouse.
I am also working on a few 808nm builds that should be 3w or higher. Those will be some time before they are finished.

cheers,
Moe

Re: The Scorcher & The Scorcher Jr. 445nm 3.4w+ w/strobe

I got mine and i love it, will post pics and a mini review this weekend time permitting. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to get a beefy blue beast, it definitely fills that role well.

Greetings,

Thanks, and hopefully will get a better camera as the pic's are a little blurry.

Greetings,

I am looking forward to seeing your pic's and reading your review. I am sure your camera has to be better than mine.
Personally I think a 3w+ laser needs to be big enough to provide adequate battery and of course heatsink. Too many use a single battery or 2x16340 or as small a battery, and with 3w+ of power you need a good power source. Just having room for a good power source normally means enough room for a good heatsink as well.

Greetings,

The Copper Scorcher has been sold !! :thanks:

Current available builds are the RT MX900 with Rick's first style of heatsink, and a Scorcher Jr. Both builds are 3w and have pic's and LPM chart shown earlier in the thread.
Should have more Scorcher's available over the next couple weeks !!

Incoming PM. Hope these are still available. I will take one for sure.

Re: The Scorcher & The Scorcher Jr. 445nm 3.4w+ w/strobe

Greetings,

Will have 4 more Scorcher's available today !! All four have aluminum heatsink and focus adapter made by Mrcrouse and are just gorgeous !!
The diodes are 9mm unused pulled from a new projector by Rick Trent and are fully copper jacketed and arctic silvered for better heat transfer. The lenses are the G9 also pulled from the diode. Will post pics and power readings when all builds are finished.

Here's a pic of the copper module and heatsink;

I must say Mrcrouse did a phenomenal job on the heatsinks and focus adapters as these are the best looking builds thus far. I will post individual pics for each build as well as a pic of it's power output.
Asking price for each build is $235 not including shipping and paypal fees.
I still have a Scorcher Jr. and an MX900 Rick Trent build both of which are $200 not including shipping and paypal fees.

Moe

The Scorcher's, 450nm 3.1w+ w/strobe

UPDATE: This build has been sold !!

Greetings,

Here are some pic's of the first of my latest builds, The New Scorcher A. This build uses a 9mm 450nm diode pulled from a new unused projector. Has the G9 lens extracted from the diode with the focus adapter and heatsink by Mrcrouse. Uses 2x18650 with included adapter sleeves or 2x26650 batteries. Power output peaks over 3.1w running solid at 3w+. The duty cycle is 2 minutes.

UPDATE: This build has been sold !!

The asking price for this build is $235 and does not include shipping and paypal fees. YOU will also need appropriate wavelength safety glasses, batteries and charger. I do not believe in including the el-cheapo ones that are bundled with most lasers.
It is important you take proper safety precautions and get good quality gear. Will be glad to help if you need it.

cheers,
Moe
