Scorcher & The Scorcher Jr. 445nm 3.4w+ w/strobe

Re: The Scorcher & The Scorcher Jr. 445nm 3.2w+ w/strobe

UPDATE: This build has been sold !!
Greetings,

I finished another build and should have another ready later today.
This build uses my normal 4 mode driver, 100%, 50%, 5%, and strobe. The host is an MX900 with heatsink and focus adapter by Mrcrouse, 9mm 445nm diode from DTR and G9 lens pulled from the diode. Uses 2x26650 or 2x18650 batteries with included adapter sleeves. This one is recommended to 4 minutes or less duty cycle, but can run longer. :eg:

UPDATE: This build has been sold !!
The asking price for this build is $235 shipped CONUS, and does not come with batteries, charger or glasses. You should either already have these, or have some coming.
Always use proper safety and protect yourself and others.

As you can see I have 2 types of focus adapters, a smaller knurled type and the normal larger ones that Mrcrouse makes for me. If you have a choice let me know and will make sure you get the type wanted.
All builds pictured except 1 are currently available..

Re: PRICE DROP !! Scorcher & The Scorcher Jr. 445nm 3.4w+ w/strobe

Greetings,

I recently purchased one of the new 3.5w NDB7A75 diodes from DTR and running with my normal 4 mode driver and a 3 element glass lens am getting 3524mw. With a G2 lens it will very quickly peg my meter as it is only a 3.7w.
If you are interested in getting a Scorcher with this diode as part of the build, please PM me. The cost of the diodes are still too high to use in my normal builds, but hopefully will continue to drop in price and will start seeing these builds offered.
Meanwhile, we still have a couple Scorchers and a Scorcher Jr. available using the usual NDB7875 diode for $200 shipped CONUS.

Here's some pic's,

From left to right we have The Scorcher Jr. ; has been sold, The Scorcher w/5 mode driver ; has been sold, and The Scorcher ; has been sold.
As always it is important to practice proper laser safety at all times. You should have the proper wavelength glasses for both yourself and those around you and wear them when using your laser.
If you need help as to the type to have, just ask. Many here will help.

cheers,

Re: PRICE DROP !! Scorcher & The Scorcher Jr. 445nm 3.4w+ w/strobe

Greetings,

I thought I would show a few pics of the way The Scorcher 's design is intended. Since most of this type host uses a heatsink held in by the bezel, you get very little heat transfer into the existing heatsink of the host. As shown below, The Scorcher's heatsink fits like a glove and screws into the host. The driver fits into the heatsink which then screws into the host taking care of the heatsink, for it. Since both tie into the existing heatsink of the host it provides better heat dissipation, and longer duty cycle.

PIC_0197_zpsd7a7af1e.jpg

PIC_0198_zps340b3a73.jpg

If you look close inside the head, there is a ring which screws in so when the heatsink is in place, the driver is held tight.

PIC_0200_zpse1c99fab.jpg

Look Ma, though the bezel is gone it doesn't fall out !!

PIC_0199_zpsd6269693.jpg

PIC_0201_zps8f46a864.jpg

If you look at this pic you can just see the driver and how it
is held in by the heatsink.

PIC_0202_zpsafe32687.jpg

PIC_0204_zpsb2876cec.jpg

PIC_0205_zps6a0a7b94.jpg

As you can see here, fits like a glove.

PIC_0206_zpsbd31b9b3.jpg

PIC_0207_zps9a64e71f.jpg

After putting a little arctic silver on all the threads, when assembled the entire head now dissipates heat, and does so extremely well. While there are builds with larger heatsinks, this provides the best possible heat dissipation for the type of host used.
I thought about making it a press fit for the diode which would be better for heat transfer than a 12mm module, but I wanted to keep the design a little easier to work with as not everyone can press in the diode. The only tools needed to work and maintain this build is a 5/32 allen, soldering iron, and 2 properly working hands !!
As it is now it takes at least 4 minutes before you can really feel any warmth and 5 when you should be turning it off.
With the power, duty cycle and price for these builds you will be hard pressed to locate another with these features, at the price being offered.

Get your new Scorcher today !!

cheers,
Moe
