Hey Everyone,

I'm looking to get an entry level scanner to play around with.

I'm having a hard-time determining the difference between the SCANLSP-20, SCANECO20, and SCANPRO20 from Laser Show Parts.

The price differences:
SCANLSP-20: $145USD

SCANECO20: $230USD

SCANPRO20: $250USD

Looking at the descriptions, I don't see any major feature differences between them. Can anyone shed any insight into the feature differences and price differences? I.E. What makes the SCANPRO20 worth an additional $105 over the SCANLSP-20?

Thanks!
Michael

Well I can tell you that the SCANECO20s are the same as SCANPRO20s only with smaller amp boards and the supplied DMX card doesn't support ILDA connectivity. The galvos are identical. I have both the PRO and ECO and the ECO actually slightly outperforms the PRO (at least in my case) with cleaner curves and corners and all around better tuning. I believe this is due to the SCANECOs updated amp boards.

the cheapest one out of those come from a different manufacturer. I was pretty sure they were different galvos, even though they look the same in the pictures.... Also, it's 20k @8degrees vs. the others ar 28k @8degrees. So really, the more expensive one is faster.

But... I really don't know much about scanners. I have a "30k" (but I think it's 30k @8degrees), but I don't have my Sound Card DAC built yet, nor do I have a TTL laser set up yet (the driver broke - I'm going to try to use a different one).

Interesting, leaning towards the SCANECO20. Haven't been able to find any reviews or posts on the SCANLSP-20.

Thanks for the link jamilm9.

The scanlsp-30 review looks promising, makes it tempting to give the scanlsp-20 a shot. I'll likely order one of them tonight, leaning towards the scanlsp-20. I'll let you guys know how it turns out. Thanks for the help!

if i were you id go to laserpic and see how much they charge for 20k scanners.

i have their z30 and they are amazing...

big scan angle

Really? That sounds good, because that's what I have. :) I haven't hooked them up yet, I'm still building my sound card DAC (well, I built it, but now I have to adjust the pots while looking at an oscilloscope). Anyway, here's a link to the z30 jamilm: http://www.laserpic.com/Ebay/Z30 galvos.pdf

btw, if you don't mind me asking Andy, how much did you pay for them (I got them used, and I felt like I paid a lot, but now I'm thinking maybe not too much).

i bought some of the scanlsp's earlier so ill let you guys know how they turn out :)

ive had the scanner for a while now but only truely got to test them at the last UKLM and i was very impressed.

dont know on price it was a long time ago, but they wernt expensive.

but i would highly recommend them to all, good value

Yeah, I got the z30s used for $156 shipped. I thought they were going to be crappy. But, if they work good, I guess it was a good price.

Hey guys,

Just to clarify. The SCANECO and SCANPRO scanners are from one company, the SCANLSP scanners are from a different manufacturer. TBH, the new scanners are that much better than the eco/pro20's, that we are on the verge of removing the eco/pro20's from sale.

The SCANLSP20's and 30's that I tested came very well tuned, which is great for the beginner.

I am keen to get some opinions from buyers, so I welcome reviews :)
