save the magnet spheres!

Its as though they use a filter, and anything small enough to pass through the filter is banned because little johnny might swallow it.

Bleach and drain cleaner for some reason is not banned.

Yup... this isn't dangerous to a child AT ALL...

I loved Buckyballs. Had like four packs, I still have them stuck all around the inside of my locker cause they're so fun to play with.

Why are you posting a ridiculously huge picture?

Back on topic, I think zen magnets will always have a hard time with the regulations similar with napster. They should change their name and start anew.

i think they have a good chance. the CSPC has so much public opposition that i think that they will eventually give up.

I hope so because this is retarded. I bought a set from them years ago and they are a bit weathered so I'm due for a newer set.

yeah. the zen magnets do hold up nicely though, don't they? that's another reason i want us to try and support them: they're just a good company. we need more of those.

The zen magnets are the same as buckyballs, same as any other neodymium sphere out there. Whether they get dirty from your hands/the floor/ the whatever isn't the fault of what name is slapped on the box

The coating thickness and quality can vary with company, no? Correct me if I'm wrong, but neodymiums are usually coated with nickel. And once the nickel wears away, almost always on the poles I find, the magnet breaks down super quickly cause of how brittle and easily oxidized neodymium ceramic or whatever's inside there is.

They're not the same. It's like saying all 532 pointers are the same. It's about quality as well.

the zen magnets are of MASSIVELY higher quality than buckyballs, in every respect you can think of really. their size tolerances are better, their plating is better, the surface quality is as close as you can get to mirror like at this size, and they are slightly more powerful than buckyballs. they choose to purchase/custom order higher quality, more expensive magnets, and sell them at the same price as other distributors for a lower profit.

yep, totally correct. that's why really nice neodymium magnets (like zen magnets, and those offered by K&J magnetics) are coated in 3 layers: nickel, copper, then nickel again. it provides insulation against oxygen, while also being tougher and more shock absorbing than standard nickel plating.

Sheesh if we banned everything a child has ever choked/done harm to themselves with we would be left with a flat, empty planet.

I swear, babies are death magnets, taking any chance they can get to choke on a pebble or get poisoned by a berry or crack their heads open on a table. Man, kids and teenagers especially are useless. Speaking from experience.

You flat earther you.

Yeah hopefully some day we won't have to bother with them. One day we will clone people and grow bodies that are about 20 years old and download knowledge into their brains bypassing childhood completely.

I can't imagine them banning all small magnets, surely there are too many important uses for them. Maybe they could make it so you have to be 18 to buy them or that an adult has to sign for the package if you buy online.

I have 100 tiny neodymium magnets only 1/8"X1/16" and was thinking about buying some different ones too. I am impressed with how powerful they are for being so small.

Watch Stargate Season 3, Episode 5, Learning Curve. It's on netflix/amazon. Or at least it's definitely on the UK version, which requires a bit more work :p

I remember a few years ago some brand of superabsorbent polymer beads were banned because kids were eating them and they were expanding in their stomach.

One person can completely ruin or take away a product with their negligence and stupidity. Granted, accidents happen, and I don't think anybody actually FED their child magnets/polymer beads, but if they had taken proper precautions there wouldn't be a problem
