That link does not confirm that these sleds/lenses are 12x.

We won't know what they are for sure, until someone plots a detailed graph of one of them. I would be happy even if i just knew where the first kink is. That's all the info i need to make my decision.... A complete plot would be beter.[/quote]

I have ordered 2 sleds from the supplier, one will go to Kenom for testing. The supplier gave me the same pics with "AD112" on them.

so this is mainly a feeler not a gb yet so no need to pay just yet, i ordered 33 sleds so when they get here i can send one out for testing before i go on vacation :)

its fine like i said no one has to pay till i get them in, but one bad thing i go on vacation on the 21'st so i would have few days to collect $$ and ship  :) but every thing should be fine

Jake21: In no way am i trying to flame your thread nor chase off your customers. I merely am trying to say that i have purchased 2 of these "AD112" sleds from the supplier, and am willing to sacrifice one to Kenom for testing, so that we all can benefit from proper identification of what diode and its capabilities are in this sled. :)

One of the chances we are taking here is that Sanyo has a burner that is 12X, but it is 12X DVD.  It is only 4X Blu-ray.  So they could honestly say that it is a Sanyo blu-ray sled that is a 12X burner ;)

Still, @ $40 it is still a good price for a 4X if the 4X proves better than the PHR.  Now if they only end up being equal to the PHR, then we paid more than we need to.  However, the "4X/6X" sleds that AMK was getting are already gone.  This is the new experiment.  $40 is NOT out of line.

For those of you who are new, we speculated very heavily that the PHR sleds were originally designed to be a 4X writer before the HD DVD format lost out to the blu-ray format.  Think about it.  There is absolutely no need for a high powered violet laser in a blu-ray READER!

I know that we have been very spoiled by the plethora of sub $20 PHR sleds, but some of us still remember paying $50+ for an HD DVD player just to get the "chance" to get a PHR sled (and sometimes getting an 0811 sled instead).

Each of us needs to make the decision about being willing to take that type of chance with these.  If you are ONLY willing to pay $40 IF they are the 12X BLU-RAY diodes, then you should wait (and maybe miss out).  There are still (for now) plenty of PHR sleds available.

I can't find it.... But thinking about it you are probably right...

But even a 4x diode from another manufacturer could be better than the other 4x. Not that that one is bad, but every diode will be different.


EDIT: Oh, it was a theory... Ok, i feel better now.
