Safe Operating Current of Mits 635s?

WOW --- That's kicka$$ !!!!
Every diode is different. I used to get
hot ones too................

Wolf --- If your readings are that unstable, you may have bad connections.
It shouldn't jump around like that. Slow drift might be normal depending on
heat conditions.

I thought that was the norm....

I guess I'll need to look around ALOT more :D

Thanks,

Hey everyone.

I am planning a build for a 635nm diode but I can't seem to find information as to what's "safe" for the 300mW versions.

I think I was told that 1A is generally regarded as safe for those things, but I am not sure. As for the 500mW versions... are those publicly available yet? What's a safe operating current for those?

635nm 300mW red laser diode/Mitsubishi ML520G71 [OL-635-300] - $65.99 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

Is this the diode? O-like says 1050mA.

Yeah, and they got that info from here, which was probably a single diode. My guess is that they wouldn't refund you if your diode died at that current though.

i think they got that from my testing:

its funny they say 770mW but thats with a 650-G-1.

Exactly. Most of the laser pointer market regularly read the testing on this forum. We've set the standard for quite a few diodes. The Chinese didnt even believe we were getting >1W from the 445nm diodes. Then they read the our graphs, ect, and all of a sudden they were selling >1W 445nm lasers.
