whats up dave, just seeing if you had a chance to get to the post office today?

Yep :)
I just checked in PayPal.
It doesn't look like the website has been updated yet
It still only shows that the "electronic shipping info received" (which only means I purchased and printed a label and that they got my money ;) )

It should get updated sometime this evening

Peace,
dave

I forgot to post this for y'all :yabbem:
I got the last batch of packages out yesterday afternoon.

Peace,
dave

Hey Dave, I've got my eye on that cyllindrical 80mW multiline ArIon. I have some questions though before I can tell if I could even use the beauty;

1) I need the dimensions for the power supply. Doesn't have to be precise but I need to see if I cn even fit in my engineering room.

2) is it 110/120 or 220/240? I only have 120 service and would have to factor in a step up trafo into my budget if it isn't 120 friendly.

3) I would like the schematic for the remote so I can tabulate an estimate for parts/labor for making a remote.

4) what kind of air cooling rig is required? Is it just a fan + duct that is needed or are we talking a minimum airspeed/volume to multiple areas kind of scheme.

5) I would love a rough estimate on shipping cost to 49724.

Ideally my argon needs are best fulfilled by one of those all-in-one-box style units, but finding one that is >50mW for <$400 has been impossible. That being said I can't pass up an 80mW ML if it is within my price range and compatible with my capabilities.

12x9x6 inches (rounded up)

This PSU is switchable. It works with 110/120V

3) I would like the schematic for the remote so I can tabulate an estimate for parts/labor for making a remote.

I will search it up for you. There is one on Sam's Laser FAQ. It is VERY inexpensive for just current control. We are talking a connector, some wire, a rheostat, a switch or two and maybe a resistor.

4) what kind of air cooling rig is required? Is it just a fan + duct that is needed or are we talking a minimum airspeed/volume to multiple areas kind of scheme.

It is just a fan and duct. It connects to the rear of the cylinder and sucks air through the laser and out the rear. The more CFM the better. A small squirrel cage is best, but people run these with just a square fan as well

5) I would love a rough estimate on shipping cost to 49724.

The challenge with these is the weight. The PSU weighs in at 21 pounds by itself! It is best to ship these in separate boxes. In any event, a quick check looks like shipping will be $60-$70. I will only charge the actual cost of shipping

I'll do a quick check for the schematic and get back here

Peace,
dave

Thanks a ton, Dave. You know, I forgot to ask, how many lines are those cylindrical MLs?

If it is just 488/514 ill have to see if I can scrounge up the other $125 or so for the 6 liner. Don't suppose you'd be interested in my Rigel + shipping costs or something similar would ya? Haha.

All of the Multi-Line lasers here give all six normal lines

Unfortunately, I am putting play funds together to pay for the trip to SELEM so I'm not looking at trades for now

Peace,
dave

Does the 220V squirrel cage fan come with the ductwork as well, or is it a stand alone fan? I have a 500VA step up trafo I can use for a fan. If so add that in the shipping cost too.

I'll need your PayPal info, lost it since last time.

Is it possible to buy one of those multiline argons outside the us ?

Would it kill me in shipping costs you think ?

Cheers, Sm.

Sure.
I should be able to put it into the box with the head for very little extra postage

Let me get it packaged up so I can get you the actual shipping cost before I contact you to send funds

I don't know what "kill you" would entail ;)
Shipping heavy items internationally is quite costly
A rough estimate on *shipping only* to the Netherlands is:
For the 145mW, box style ~$125
For the 105mW cylinder style ~$240

The box style laser is smaller, lighter, and can go in one box
The cylinder style will require two boxes

With the shipping cost differences you can get the 145mW for about the same cost as the 105mW
Once again, I will have to package it up to get the actual cost of shipping
An additional pound of weight or inch of width changes the cost :(

Peace,
dave

I've got it doing a maintenance burn right now
I cranked it up
Here is the output from the laser reflected off of a high quality refracting mirror
The two spots that look "split" look that way because of where they hit on the cabinet door
They are all TEM00

Nice tube ;)

Peace,
dave

**EDIT**
-- My wife is on her way over here with movies. I probably won't get this boxed up until tomorrow

Received my C6 and it's perfect!
Very clean build at a GREAT price.
Good packaging + fast shipping.
Thank you Dave

Is there anywhere I can read up about HeNe lasers? They seem very interesting and I have no clue how they work or what you have to do to keep them running.

Absolutely awesome Dave! I eagerly await receiving this beauty.

Since you've got it up and running full blast, do you know if the linked remote scheme (with 1k limiting resistor in series with 1.5k pot) limits the tube current to the safe/healthy maximum tube current, or are you using a remote with a different current limitation. I just don't want to risk damaging such an awesome laser.
