Well as some of you know my Chrome mini died a couple weeks ago at 830mW. I was cleaning the diode window when it happened. I am still unsure if the cause was overheating from neglected duty cycles or from the liquid being on the diode while lasing. In any case I have replaced the diode with another 12X. At the same 600mA current this diode is giving out 840mW. This bad boy has now been retrofit with a custom Ehgemus focus adaptor. I strongly recommend this focus adapter to ALL Chrome Mini owners. It is a MUST HAVE. This is now pretty much the perfect Blu-ray IMHO. Small concealable, single protected CR123A rechargeable, flexdrive, 405-G-1, and sexy host, On with the photos.

With these next shots the weird violet streak going across two of the photos was not there in real life. There was just too much for the camera to handle on the light colored surface.

The streak of light means your camera lens is dirty - a one-direction smudge of any kind of contaminant (even finger swiped across lens will produce similar efect).

It's diffusing the light coming into the lens, and acts as tiny diffraction grating. Clean your camera lens ! :)

On the other hand, Almost-Class-IV bluray handheld that can be hidden in your fist is a sight to see.

How much fun would one had if he took the laser to measurement in local university or something with appropriate light meter?

"Ooh nice work on the laser, let's see... What? Oh my, it seems out meter needs recalibration, care to stop by tomorrow?"
LOL

Awsome work!!

Question - what's the efficiency of FlexDrive?
What is the current draw from the battery?

Lens used? Lifetime of one battery charge, brands of batteries?

Awsome work, Luke, like always! :)
Correcting EDIT - 405G1 lens, sorry! I'm getting blind I'd guess :)

This isn't an 'Almost-Class-IV Blu-Ray', it is a Class IV blu-ray, a Class IV is any continuous wave laser over 500mWs in power output, between 315nm and far infrared, for pulsed lasers between 400 and 700nm, this is restricted to any laser over 30mJ. Just a little clarification.

Talk about one very nice class IV lazooor :D

Is that focus adpater made of Al? Is it polished?

p.s. The GITD o-rings are a nice touch :)

Thanks, j really like the o-rings in the grooves. The focus adaptor is polished aluminum.

Damn, WTF I must have mixed up two threads or something, I see 840 mW and me saying "almost" ...

I gotta lay off staring in laser dots for a while.

Sorry guys!

Wow
Like mine but a lot more mighty! Don't the beam instantly burns everything it touches?
I'll definitly also get a focus adapter. Are you sure this one works on mine too?
Because dave posted in the 12x BR DIODES thread: "It does NOT have the kind of focus adapter that Yobresal is talking about (unless you bought one separately). Although I do not have any problem focusing the pocket mini style lasers, a focus adapter does make it more convenient."
So does it?

Hi there Burnsy, Our lasers are identical. If you send your laser to Ehgemus he can fab up a custom built Focus adaptor for your laser just like mine. He may not even need you to send the laser to him now that he has the dimensions from the one he built for me.

Now that's what I'm talkin about!!

What might someone have to pay to get one of these little beasts?? :yabbem:
