Ordered the 505 on EBAY from BeamQ. Says It will arrive in October sometime. I'd get a 488 as well but I already have the "490" from SanWu. I do love the colors. Look forward to seeing more-and beam shots. I have a 505 5 mW from Laserlands (might actually BE that low-which was my purpose for presentations). I like that color. It looks GREEN until I put the spot from a 520 or 532 next to it-then it looks more cyan.

Excellent! I just went a bit insane and ordered a 3.5 watt 465nm from jetlasers in their epic ple-pro host. It requires 2 26650's.(it was on sale) I will let you know how long it takes to defeat a folgers coffee container!
I cannot test it for power...my meter is only 3 watts!

I find my 1 watt 520 jet lasers perform poorly on white paper. I hope the 3.5 watt 465 will be pretty as well as a flame thrower. I should get my 505 before you and I will let you know the power I measure as well as my perception of the color.

I fired up a nichia 515 DTR module tonight and it looks very yellow green compared to the cyan. It has a better beam though at over 80mw!!!

I have a 465 nm on order myself-although not as powerful. Good luck with the Coffee container. :-)
I was going for color and visibility-but 2W might take awhile to vanquish a coffee container.
And I've yet to cut electrical tape-or pop balloons. I have some match lighting experience though. My 490-492 nm will easily set off matches.
One thing I duplicated from the XM360 videos was using the sink just in case. I use a non-shiny black rock as a stop.

Bad news. I got the 505 nm laser and it was too short, it takes a 123A. Curses!
Otherwise the color is really nice...but there is a wicked hot artifact off the beam axis a good ways too. I am not happy it is not 18650 powered, and I don't have an extension tube that fits it.

Time for an item not as described complaint.

Tested power is 32mw max, 31.8 average. I suspect power is down due to insufficient cell size.
I ordered another one from a different seller that looks the same. Hopefully it will be as described.

It should be able to take a 16340 or maybe even an 18350 Li-ion battery. The artifact is a result of the lens they used. Many of the Sharp diodes give this rectangular artifact with all but two lenses I have found that eliminate it. You can use the acrylic lens that comes with ant 12 mm module you order or the 2 element 520nm AR coated one from DTR. If you use the acrylic lens you will have to fix the edge of the outward facing end of the lens to the focus knob or ring as the housing is a little too short. I use fingernail polish to do this as it is easily removed with acetone if you make a mistake and need to do it over. On a focus ring you would need to fix it on the first 3/4 ths of a turn as any further will not give you the range to not bottom the ring out. I have figured this all out by building all of my lasers.

The artifact is a lens defect, not a reflection off the die.(30 degees off axis) I will change it eventually as I have some DTR sold me. It is a shorter version of the 488nm lasers and IS very cute. And the minor annoyance with the lens is easy to fix. I was hoping for better runtime....

I love the wavelength. It looks 505 to me!

I've got a low wavelength one in a build. It measures 502nm. Still green, but next to a 510nm it has blue in it and the 510nm looks like a 532nm with some yellow in it. It is only the 2 element 520nm AR coated lens that DTR sells that will work to eliminate the artifact. His other lenses won't. You can also try an acrylic lens as they are ubiquitous and cost nothing. I have them in several of my Sharp diode builds.

I have no way to measure it. My favorite green which was the least yellow
of all of mine looks very yellow next to it. It is a short green whatever it is!
It is pretty! It is much bluer than the 515 Nichia I have.
My 515nm laser uses 3 AA eneloop pros BTW. I prefer the safety of NIMH but due to my love of power and Green/Blue I am finally using Lithiums!

Yeah, I have been using rechargeable Li for a long time now. You really need them if you need a lot of current or the diode has a high Vf and you are using a boost driver with one battery. I do have some nonrechargeable Li, but not many. They are lower in voltage over the rechargeable ones and sometimes you need that.

I ordered a couple of 18350 lithiums. I will retest output power with them
vs the CR123A. 1500mah cells from orbtronic.

They have the best prices I've found among all battery sellers. My last order was for five 18650 batteries. The entire shipment cost me $30.00 with shipping and included two LG 3500 mAh 10 amp batteries and three Panasonic cells. Have a look at the link I provided.
 
I started buying from Orbotronic at the recommendation of SanWu as their Protected 18650 3500 mAh 10 amp batteries are just the right length for the SamWu Challenger II to enable the function of the end cap switch to change modes.
So far they behave the same as the NiteCore version in use-except that they fit better.

Orbtronic has lightning fast shipping and so far I find the cells obtained from them to be excellent.
I bookmarked your link. I like Sanyo/panasonic cells a lot.
 
Are the Orbtronic's shipped from China? The Liion cells are in the US and are shipped fast too. But, they don't need to go through customs. Glad you got some cells that fit. I would have to test their cells to see if they actually have that much capacity. How much did they charge for the 18350 cells?

They are in Florida. So fast USPS to me here in NC. the cells were 5 or 5.50 I think. They have decent pricing. They wrap some with their name
and will generally tell you who made the parent cell. I have never seen anything negative about them and best of all they typically have exact cell
dimensions listed...which is a godsend with some hosts.

I should add the 3500mah 18650 cells I got from them recently were heavy. The last ones I got from them were protected 3400mah cells which
they claim are wrapped panasonics with their protection PCB. Also heavy. Run time seems right on.

I am a bit skeptical about 1500mah in a 18350 but at least one chinese company (aspire) claims to have done it.
I will let you know how well they perform.

Oh, I agree that if you need a weird battery size it is great to be able to get them. I have an Opus BT-C3100 intelligent charger that measures capacity and internal resistance very accurately without having to setup a test bed and discharge them through a load to know the capacity, or have to measure the sage on a different load to figure out the internal resistance. I have doubts about the 1500 mAh claim for the 18350 batteries. I would run them on my Opus to find out for sure.

I bought some 3500 mAh Panasonic 18650s that are protected that are able to supply 10 amps each. They have a very low internal resistance of ~30 mohms. I only paid ~$5.00 for them from Liion as they were being discontinued. Well worth the money I paid for them.
