Review: Lazerer LZSK - 532nm 400mW Green Laser Pointer w/ Case + Goggles

When i look at mine on the site, it says that it uses 2x 16340 li-ion Battery's non are included, do you have any ideas where i can get some? im thinking Maplin?

What? Really?! S**T! Although, i ordered the LZSK so i hope that this isnt the case with mine... what battery are you running, the 18650? I heard you can run two c123a batteries instead, what do you reckon??

The 1.2w Rifle runs on 2 x 16340's (7.2V)

18650 and 16340 (same size as cr123 give or take 1mm) are both 3.7v each,, you shouldn't run 2 x 123's in place of a 18650 because it would be twice the voltage (some 123's are only 3.0v). I've got some of LarryDFW's Samsung 3000mah for when the LZSK's arrive ( 18650 Batteries & Chargers + http://laserpointerforums.com/f64/quality-18650-batteries-charger-57069.html )

What did Max say?
He said 'We are sure that all the laser is in on spec condition before sending out' and asked about the battery voltages,,current being drawn and if I had seen it dimming or not. I've told him what I could,,just waiting on his next reply and see where we go from here. I've not noticed any drop in power since i've had the laser so those LPM results came as a hell of a shock.
If i'm correct in thinking I can measure the current draw by removing the tailcap, setting a multimeter to the 10A setting/input, and then using the multimeter in series (prongs to make contact with the battery end (+ve) and the host case (-ve),,the current draw was only 500mA which reflects on the 500mw or thereabouts reading I was getting this morning. I'm guessing there's a fault with the driver maybe,,,but I'm 'noob'ish myself so dunno :D

Huh? I thought you'd ordered a LZSK - 532nm 400mW ? The battery is a 18650 for all the LZSK's.

Oh right, its just the green sticks that are on 18650.:)

I got my first 2 16340's from Max when I got the Rifle and then bought a couple of spares off ebay.

well ive looked on ebay and the sellers say that the batteries are under spec and in some cases by a lot. I bet thats your problem...

Anyway, ive got the maplin catalogue and they have the c123s in which are rechargable. Also dropped them an email.

Cant wait to see a 1.2w blue laser! (if its true spec and the batts are true power)

If it is the batteries that are the problem that would be a huge relief,,,,but then it makes you wonder why Max would send out duff batteries. There doesn't seem to be any brand of 16340 that is particularly better than any others unlike the 18650's. I've not really looked into the 123's yet but I was wondering about them as an alternative to my 16340's if could find 3.7v ones with a good mAh rating. They're slightly bigger in size but they might just fit the rifle host.
I was just looking at Maplins,,,,could only see cr123 rechargeable that are 3.0v. You'll be wanting 3.7v ones for that blue stick 1.2.
At 6.2v between both batteries, my 1.2w rifle practically turns itself off.

edit: Sorry if we've hijacked your thread a bit here Honeyx :D

your right :( where shall i get them from then? il look on ebay again. I cant imagine the batts to be in the best shape due to testing etc but id try new ones before throwing it out of the window.

These are the best i have found so far... item number on ebay 320841422086

I've got these: 2x Ultrafire 16340 CR123A 880mAh 3.7V Rechargeable Li-ion Battery | eBay which look exactly the same as the ones Max ships out.

I've also ordered these a few weeks ago (hong kong) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320819104902?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 It says 1000mAh which is highly unlikely (prob 500+) but I thought i'd give them a go.

edit: Looking at those you saw on ebay, if the dimensions are right they're nearly 1.9mm longer than the 16340's I have. That could be a problem depending on the host. I'm sure i'd struggle to get those in my Rifle.

I am pleased to say that i have found your problem. Please rewad the description for this item on ebay: Item number: 220945659236

:) :)

Well that was an interesting read. Hats off to the seller for stating that in his description. I knew they were all overrated, but thats ridiculous for 1000mAh. Hope these 880's aren't that bad.
Hmmmmmm,,you've got me wondering now. Makes no sense for Max to send rubbish batteries. I'll mention it to him. The power certificate states the power source was 'Fully charged 16340 Li-on Battery'. I wonder what he was using. I'll have to try and find out.

Well, you've convinced me to at least try those Trustfires so I've just ordered 2 myself. Fingers crossed :D

What I'd really like is someone to build an extension for the Rifle host so I can chuck 2 x 18650's in there :D

Actually, whilst we're on ebay, you may want to get some of these > http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200655432293?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
I've bought hundreds over the past few weeks - such fun popping them. (i'm a big kid) They're really strong balloons and when they go, they go with a hell of a bang :D

Haha something to scare the missis from a distance! Have you got your trcker yet? Where can you track them?

No link... i hope it comes this week. There is a big lag in correspondance with Max though so hopefully yours is actually on its way. Least you have something to play with now! :(
