Review: KD 150mW Baton Style Green Laser

Well mikeeeey,  when I check mine it also says the same thing it said when we both checked them.  The tracking on these things are horrible.  I hope you get a better unit than mine.  Mine wants to stay in TEM01 or whatever mode 2 dots is and the button is still a little wacky.  On top of that I'm pretty sure that it is underpowered because it is just a tad brighter than my pot modded 15mw wicked classic.  This doesn't say much because for some reason that pot modded 15mw is super bright and lights matches and all that fun stuff so it is hard to tell without any actual measurements whether it is or not.

I think I might go through with an RMA mostly due to the mode thing because that is my biggest pet peeve when it comes to lasers.

UGGHHHH why is KD in CHINA and not in the USA!!! >:( >:( >:(  For shipping purposes.

ahh good! you relieved all my worries! so hopefully i get mine soon. i sure hope mine is a good unit... how far apart are the dots when mode hoping? can you take a picture? or does it look like the dot in the picture i posted from milos's review a few pages back?
well, i have bad luck with lasers, but last time everyone was recieving the horrible Ultrafire 90mW lasers, turns out mine was actually good! But then i broke it trying to take it apart cuz i thought it was bad! o NOOZ!

ill just keep waiting, and thankyou for your help!

I snapped a picture of the beam fully expanded by the focusing lens. This shot is from about 6 feet away. It was interesting to note that when first turning it on, the beam is sort of square shaped but quickly (~1sec.) shifts to a nice, round TEM00 mode and stabilizes there.

aweomse! what about focused to it's finest point? for burning purposes. or just a "normal" focus for distant shining.

It's relative I suppose. One end of the focus range appears to be infinity. Adjusting the focus from there just brings the focus closer and closer to the laser. It appears that the focal distance is about 2" from the aperture at the other end of the range. My picture was of the spot with the laser focused at 2" but projected to about 6'. ie. The beam is convergent for the first 2" then is divergent after the focal point.

i ment could you upload a picture of the dot normal and the dot focused? it seems your unit was good but other's were somewhat faulty?

I'm only getting a humbe 50mW from DX. Hopefully it ends up being better than the higher powered ones. Maybe all the good ones were sent out first to lure people into buying the others.

ya know if I recall KD has a place here in the states to send a RMA'D item. Let me check this to be sure.

Kenom, your right. After I looked into the RMA process a little bit more I noticed that they have you ship them to some where in Florida.

Thanks for that, tid bit of info it made me feel some what happy-er? :'(

DX you also ship to somewhere in Florida.

NVM I got it working!!! ;D ;D ;D The button was just being a little bit stubborn! This thing is bright let me tell you and the build quality is absolutely amazing except for the button part ::)

I will write a review later but now I have to go to work from 12:30 to 8:30.

Good luck with that... I've returned a couple of those KD 50mW CR2 lasers and they've never let me ship them to a US address. I always had to send them to a Hong Kong address and it takes 3-4 weeks for them to receive it.

Yes I did but that was just a few minutes of messing around with it and only a first impression, but after getting off of work I now realize all of its little problems.

If you read my other posts following that one it will explain it all.

so how bright is your 15mW you were referring to? I sure hope you'l find a way to fix your laser! it might just be the button.

how quick does the 150mW laser light matches focused right? when burning plastic does the smoke slowly come out or does it shoot out?

my laser is at the post office!
thats probably just as annoying as waiting, waiting for the next day to get it, when its JUST out of reach!
but what's even worse, is when you get it, and it's already been opened by the customs.... i really hope that wont happen.

I GOT MY LASER!
its very powerful! it does NOT mode hop thank god. it burns very well, i can see the beam in a lighted room, it's not night yet but i cant wait to try it then. it looks amazing in my diffraction grating.
The only problem is the button, it doesnt seem to turn on at first, i push it a few times and then it turns on, and once im using it the button is fine, but after not using it for about 20 seconds it goes back to not working so well. its very weird, hopefully ill be able to fix this (or someone else will find a way).

i will post a review when i get my vision back. :o
i seriously need some green laser shades, if anyone is interested in trading some green shades for my WL Red Shades.
