Hey Guys I got my Package from Lazerer today
Shipped within 3 Days from China to Germany with EMS ;)

The Laser came in a fine aluminium suitcase which is perfectly fitting for a high Power Laser :)

The safety goggles included are very cheap I don't recommend using them !!

The Host and Heatsink are really small I was worried about the duty cycle first second I hold it in my hands !

They should classify this as Class 4 Laser not 3B because they will likely overspec

The host itself looks good and feels smooth

The Power Certificate says 535mW not bad But like I said most will overspec

My Camera picks the beam up way more blueish as it looks in real person

Here is a comparison shot between 405nm and 445nm unfortunately my 2,5W 445nm overspread the whole room ...

The only thing really bothering me about this Laser is the Duty Cycle 120 Sec on 60 Sec off is really bad for someone like me I like to play with my lasers at least 10min a day :D

The Current draw is 1,2A at the Tailcap and the diode is driven @400mA really bad driver I guess ...

But overall this Laser kicks Ass and is a really good entrance in the World of 405nm :D

You can see how my camera picks the beam up in this Vid ... :(

I hope you enjoyed the Review
Best Regards

Edit: 02.03.2013

This Laser died to me today -.-
The dot is really dim

I always followed the duty cycle the diode had a life of 4-5 hours :(
I cannot suggest this Laser anymore I heard similiar things from other people very bad reliability !

So you still have 63270sec/day left for playing :tinfoil:

the laser uses a boost driver, i'd guess that's why it's drawing 1.2A from the battery.

my 12x is driven by an x-boost (a very good boost driver) @520mA and draws 1.25A at the tail

If the boost driver would have nearly 100% Efficiency the current at the tail would be around 700mA ...

Still your X-Boost is more efficient then the boost driver in my Laser !

Edit: I just mean there are Buck Drivers with up to 95% Efficiency so I guess efficient Boost Drivers should be possible too because they work very similar

Mine did the same thing a few months ago, I'm either going custom, CNI or GB when I buy lasers...

Damn sorry to hear that! I also bought a laser from Lazerer a few months back and accidently killed it :( Although it was my fault...

I'd say go custom :) Will cost you a lot less!

The total for my 1,35W 445nm laser is under 95$!

I make Custom Builds myself so it wont be a problem ;)
But I suggest to all not to buy this Laser from Lazerer !!!

I have one of these as well. I picked mine up directly from the factory while I was in China. My biggest complaint is how much they overdrive it. Mine was set to 503mW. It really lacks proper heatsinking for that power level. I turned the driver down to 282mW output power, it's still going strong at that. This one has a linear driver and uses a pair of 16340 cells.

I'm not sure who provided you with that 2 minute on 1 minute off duty cycle rating. The manufacturer told me that the duty cycle for this laser at 500mW is 30 seconds on and 60 seconds off.

They also use this same laser for some of their lower power 405nm builds, they change the driver type and setting. For example, the "5mW" one I bought is nearly identical to my 500mW one, only it has a boost driver and runs from a single 18650. It was set to 115mW out of the box. I turned it up to 275mW, then turned it back down to 100mW.

Man this is horrible I sure would like to know what diode they used. I don't see why they push a diode so hard then rely on the end user to adhere to strict duty cycles. I say use the baddest diode and throttle it down charge a little extra if you have to, all that waiting for shipping and hoping that you get a good one, customs, for what a horribly overdriven diode that blows just when you start enjoying it. Oh well, gut that sucker and use it for parts.
