I could not help but laugh at your comparison you made, trust me when it comes to sound systems I know what I'm talking about being a producer and dj for 17years and working in production studios and with massive sound systems ect.
The first thing I would like to say is that you are comparing "SIGNALS" with "DRIVING" power. The driving power will come from the "AMPLIFIER" and not the "SIGNAL" thus I can have 1000 car or any other "amplifier" running off RCA "SIGNALS" from one "mixer" or "Audio source" with VERY LITTLE losses and the "Amplifiers" will push there given Watts they are rated REGARDLESS of signal input, therefore, the AMPS are doing the work driving the speakers, not the "Signals"
Secondly,I have seen in car sound compo's,what they call, the "Hundred Watt Class" were they take 1 Amp ONLY and drive 12 times 12inches of just 100W of A class amps and they are pushing 150DB's of sound.....this is like you say got to do with Impedance, but let me tell you THERE ARE NO LOSSES THERE!!!!!

I'm sure you CAN DRIVE 6 PROJECTORS OFF FB3 with, If I may say, "MINOR" losses so the answer is YES YOU CAN,and unless you are driving 20 projectors off "Signals" you should have no "Major" problems with the "Amps" pushing there rated values to the "Galvo's"(Speakers)
BTW.GALVO AMPS COME WITH THERE OWN "TWEAKS" via "Pots"

It depends upon how much current the DAC is capable of producing.

Just like a parallel resister network, the voltage across the resistors remains the same, and the current is divided. There is a certain amount of current required and if the division drops the current too low the system won't function properly.

If each projector requires 50ma, the DAC would need to be able to provide (50mA X # of projectors ) + a few mA for conductor losses.

^Your losses may not be high enough to be noticeable.. I guarantee they're there, though. If there's no signal boosting circuitry, then there are losses when you split a signal. It's the laws of physics that dictates this, not me..

The loss can be very small, insignificant even. It all depends on the output impedance of the correction amp, and the input impedance of each scanner set connected. The output impedance of the typical correction amp is very close to zero: it will output the same voltage regardless of load, unless the current exceeds what the opamp can deliver.

So the question is: what is the input impedance of the scanners? If its something in the order of 10k ohm (which would be typical), there is no problem connecting 10 of those in paralel to a single correction amp.

If you absolutely had to, you could even buffer the correction amp with a couple of power transistors, which would be enough to drive a truckload of scanners if you wanted to.

Just for scientific interest, gains and losses are measured in Decibels, were power is measured in Watts so If you open up your parallel cables(Or DAC cables)or even coax or RCA cables or microphones, you will notice they are inside a earth sleeving to prevent losses over distance(Decibel meter). To test this theory to the max,get a set of headphones, plug it into your Mike input and speak through the headphones, you will hear your voice going into the Amp.Now cut the the earphone wire and join it again then try speak again....you will notice no sound whatsoever because you have caused it to have a loss without the earth braiding on the outside to prevent DB losses.
This example is losses from the most smallest input in voltage by means of signal I can think of,very minute signals.
I'm not sure if it applies to this topic, just something I thought I'd mention.(make nicer cables or something)

If i join 1000 Amplifiers for a big party, which also have impedance inputs, but I plug my RCA's from my mixer into a splitter box with 1000 pairs of RCA's and then out from the box to the Amps,The losses will not come from the Amps,it will come from the splitter box, that's were I will loose the most DB's and not the cables or the amps!

Cable losses also depend on input impedance. In case of near-DC signals, its a simple ohm's law problem to solve.

Working with decibels is convenient when you have equal input and output impedances. If that is the case, splitting a signal passively results in (at least) a 3 dB drop in power level. But this is not the case when the drivers impedance is low, and the recepients impedance is high.

I'm used to working with dB's where gains, losses or distribution is concerned. In case of running a lot of high-impedance loads in a low-impedance driver, they aren't all that useful, since the losses are so small that they won't make it to a single dB unless you connect boatloads in paralel ;)

Professional Laserists use modified Alesis XT ADATs for show control, and then some hard drive recorders.

The AdAT needs about 24 caps jumpered to DC couple both the record and playback paths. Takes about two hours of your time.

The "snake" IO connector on the back of the ADAT has a differential or single ended output and input, and is a ILDA compatible signal. Many folks just use the RCA JACk singled ended I/O.

There is a ILDA standard for ADAT tape. The PDF of the mod, is published by Pangolin.

You can still get the required ADAT and SVHS tapes, and ADAT XT parts.

Warning, some ADATS need a CADAMOD board, so check the PDF before you ebay. Blackface XTs are usually just fine.

You can use any format you like, but standard format is X,Y,R,G,B,USER*,Left aud, Rht Aud.

Lft, X1,Y1,I1, I2,Y2,X2, Rht is a dual head format with blanking only.

*User is a spare channel, often used for timecode or another color.

40 minutes per tape with good ADAT grade tapes. I have tried a case of the 40$ for 6 tape SVHS and have regretted it, I now only use those for backups.

Does this bother me?LOL you got something else coming....I like reading facts posted by members....not oh Andy it wont work...Andy Told you it has been done(more over....with 6!!!!) so Im the kind of person that when I see people comparing signals and driving with amps as a comparison(which is bollocks scientifically speaking) and I stand in a place were I also have knowledge about certain things to dispute your reasoning and logic(or lack thereof)....go make me shut up!!!(Truth talks,Bullsh#@T walks!!!)
So until such times were you can actually dispute any of my claims and call me a complete Liar....catch a wake up and grow up....no one ever died and made you a god over anyone else!!!!

I merely expect a professional to conduct himself accordingly.

twhite828 I shouldn't of posted your Reply in this message, your comment was not harsh although I dont fully agree, and by all means you acted the way you wish to be replied...Thanks for that....as for the other 2 there comments were rude and Obnoxious and shows the type of people they are in real life.
Trevor you by all means have my respect.

this is commonly done with an ADAT with Lightpipe interface and/or an echo LAYLA audio card.
