Recommended 5W+ 445nm laser?

Hello everyone!

I'm thinking of buying a Sanwu Silver 5W 445nm laser; however, before I pull the trigger, I was wondering if I may be overlooking any better options? In particular, I would prefer a 7W+ laser, but only if the host is relatively small (no larger than the Silver, so this rules out the Spiker). Another feature I prefer is waterproof. I don't mind if the laser is a custom build or commercially available.

Any suggestions?

Hi Cliff,

first of all welcome to the LPF (you might post your intro in Welcome forum, if you plan to stay here). Second, do not forget to study laser safety extensively before first use of such a laser and to get proper eye safety glasses/goggles. These powers are incredible and without eye protection there will happen accident for sure very soon. And finally - Sanwu are a great company according to other members here, so it is a good choice. Although I have no experience with them so far, I'm considering their pocket series for my laserpainting purposes and I did a research on them here and elsewhere - seems legit and high quality. Do not forget to choose right lens - if you go for highest burning power or for a nice beam.

What Radim is very true. Safety first!

I have a 5watt Silver it is a great unit, it is not water proof but it is water resistant. It's a great burner and of great quality.

Their are a couple custom 7watt builds for sale in the buy/sale/trade thread that are of terrific quality also, you won't go wrong either way.

Yes Sanwu are awesome lasers hard to beat,
I decided to sell a custom 5.5w laser witch was a difficult decision for me,
For some reason I'm still waiting for moderators to approve my sale thread,

Sanwu is a great choice.

You may be able to reach out to them and have them push a unit to 7W for you, although they may remove any warranty in that case.

Have you owned any other laser before? It can be recommended to start with a lowered powered unit first to learn safety hazards. What kind of glasses/goggles do you plan on getting?
