Re: new Sharp 495nm diode
Can't wait to see what you come up with. I'll be here. :yh:

Well, it was a long shot that it would actually turn out to be 495nm. Still, a 488nm is not bad at the price you paid. I will get a chance to spectro one of these myself, so we won't have to go with just your diode's reading. I think the one I have coming will get here in the next week or so. BTW, you can track all three of your packages as they left Seattle tonight.
I'm looking forward to see the results.
They told me the beam profile of this diode has an empty center which would render it useless for a build with a nice collimated beam. Not sure what to do with my diode at this point.
Also thanks for the update on the shipping, hope they will arrive safely.

Although a bit OOT, strangely all my 405nm low power laser pen has this mode too (just like TEM01 in pic below),
The center is dimmer than the edge, but only on a slight level which could only be observed using goggles
IMO i suspected that it is not a defect, but rather a "feature"
But of course we need to see other diode first before coming to a conclusion :can:
My 480 shows similar behavior if it isn't focused as tightly as humanly possible. Since the divergence is so low, I don't even notice it. I'll get a pic of it this weekend.
I might want to cancel the $900 488 I have ordered from existotem... hopefully they don't ship it until after I get this visually compared to my argon. I kind of hope this turns out to be as advertised, but things do not look good for that. Still happy to see it likely isn't a 480 or a 505.
How does it look when collimated ? I'm waiting for a picture from CNI to decide how bad it's.
Yeah I chucked on a 3 element lens on my 473 tonight and the box die reflection is completely gone, looks just as good as a 405 divergence now, much nicer, but not all 3 element lenses or all G2 are alike so no guarantees.
