Re: new Sharp 495nm diode(after testing it confirmed just 488nm)

Re: new Sharp 495nm diode

Yaeh, this is an exciting time to be around here. Seems like almost every day there is a new WL for sale at very reasonable prices. :D

Re: new Sharp 495nm diode

Man, if I had a 495nm diode I would be one happy camper. I've been striving for that ~500nm teal for a long time, and just recently we see such activity closer to that range. Shame they become available so slowly and aren't reliably sourced. I never got one of those 505nm from the batch that wasn't actually 510nm before they became unavailable. Here's to hoping one pops up or that something else close becomes available.

Re: new Sharp 495nm diode

^ I got my 502nm from lasertack. Bought the lowest one they had, but they also offered a 503 that I turned down back then. maybe they still have it?

granted, the 502 is much less interesting than the 480 and the 490. Still very, very green.

Re: new Sharp 495nm diode

It is strange how green 502nm looks by itself and not compared to another WL. I really don't know exactly where the cut off between cyan and green is, but I know how these diodes look. At least to me.

Re: new Sharp 495nm diode

Well; this is not the next post I wanted to make in this thread.

I either have the same scare the 480nm had with a drained battery... or this diode does not like the increased current as much as the 480's and 502's like it. Oh jeez.

Re: new Sharp 495nm diode

I really need to bring some spare batteries or a charger up here. Gonna charge it at work, and see what happens tomorrow. Probably best I don't touch it right now...

If not, this weekend I'll try taking it apart and seeing if anything is shorting out somewhere or is detached. Inside of the C6 is a bit cramped, I had to really play with it to fit everything in right. Just switched over to braided wire so I don't imagine any leads broke off...

I just hope I had the same luck I did for the 480. These scare me more though since I think it's a test diode/reject diode...

Re: new Sharp 495nm diode

:cryyy: so theres only 1 490ish sharp diode out there? yikes! sorry for your loss. get well soon little diode

Re: new Sharp 495nm diode

At least in the case this is actually dead, it isn't terribly hard to get a new one... just $$$... still feels bad.

Re: new Sharp 495nm diode

It definitely is a lot of money. But now that I've had one for a little bit, I definitely want one back asap. Hopefully the osram ones are real, and hopefully I hear something soon about the sharp 488's

Re: new Sharp 495nm diode

I've got one on its way to me now. I'm looking forward to testing it out.

Re: new Sharp 495nm diode

Sorry to hear that ZraffleTicket. :(
Hopefully you'll have more luck with the 488's, and have an opportunity for another 495 at some point.

Re: new Sharp 495nm diode

Not the ones labeled 495, but sharp has some 488's on the way and we may have a lead for $280 osram 488's

That's a nice picture Zach,

I thought we all knew these 495,s. We're mislabeled the other was spectroed at 488 and it'll be here soon.

Oh Zach I missed the bad news this is terrible, I had a feeling 275ma might be high for a diode that only has one brother, Really sorry to here this! At least it wasn't really 495 if you lost a 495 man that would be terrible, I think it might have been tops 490 since the other hit 488 at threshold!

We could have more pop up anytime though who knows!

Re: new Sharp 495nm diode

^ Exactly ;)

Edit: Trying to find some better settings for coloring... I'm getting there...

Now this is definitely 488 it looks exactly the same as Ivan,s cyan build!

Sorry for the double I thought it was a different thread!

Check this one out guys it looks awesome it's a decent price I think!

Not a bad one. But we don't know what exactly diode is used in there, do we? Though the beam profile is not so pretty.

Somewhere near this link I've found 4 of Osram PLT5-488 at a price $900: Click

I just got back to read the thread and now I feel odd, because these diodes are really popping out out of nowhere for reasonable prices, and the money I've spend on my build is ... :yabbem: Oh, never mind.
