Hi ok today i dropped my blu-ray 50mW rayfoss water proof.
After wards i tried to turn it on, it flickered on an off a few times then went dead, I recharged the battery stuck it in and tried it for a few seconds. I heard this whispering ringing like sound, then it went to a muffle of sorts.
I haven't turned it on since and i await a reply.

Is this a common problem?
Is there a known fix?
Do i need to worry about the sound.

Thanks for reading.

you might as well turn it on again... you may end up having to replace the diode or driver. im not quite sure why it would make any kind of ringing sounds..

Its more like a high pitch frequency

It works randomly now im testing it, ill turn it on 3 seconds later off makes some wired sound along with that frequency.

Update: where the forward cap goes, on the hosts insides there is something black smudge like thing it doesn't come off.

In that thread they give some good reasons why, thing is i only noticed the ringing after charging my battery.
The pointer seems to be more stable it doesn't shut off now i have ran it straight for up to ~12 seconds.

Could dropping the laser cause it to momentarily cause flickering then shutting off?

Or could the battery have gone dead when i drooped it by coincidence. lol

Its a new thing to be so i may be a bit anxious.

It probably has a Boost driver and the ringing you are hearing
could be the oscillation frequency (or a harmonic) of the driver
or of some part/parts vibrating... that may have been knocked
loose...

I'm just guessing....

I agree 100% with Jerry on this one !

Yeah, it's probably the inductor on the boost driver. I've heard of a ringing noise coming from computer motherboard components, but I never thought it'd happen on a laser boost driver.

If you can open it up you can put some epoxy on the driver to stop it from ringing.

Thanks, if anyone could give hints on how to open the purple metal waterproof rayfoss hosts and get the module out that would rock.

Also the laser sometimes goes off and on still i think its something to do with the orange push button on the back it may have taken damage of some kind.

Ok it seems the tailcap with the orange button has stopped working, i tried with a peice of metal and it turned on.
How can i replace is or fix it?
