Should my friend take a rest. he got a 1 sec direct hit from a 50mw green laser, the laser went of then went on again and he was looking at it directly his left eye got hit but only for one second... will it be bad???

should he rest for how many days?

1 second direct exposure at 50mW ?

More than rest, i will suggest to your friend to go to an optometrist (optalmologist ? ..... eye doctor) and have a complete visit, after he say to the doctor exactly what happened.

Eyes are only two, not worth the risk to get them damaged, also just for the lack of a visit, right ?

1 second of direct exposure at 50mW to the right place inside his eye and he won't see right again.

A 1 second direct hit from 50mW is very serious - he should see a specialist immediately!

but how did it happen? With a power of 50mW is always advisable to wear safety glasses...

I honestly don't think it was a 1 second hit blink reflex kicks in at a 1/4 of a second and I doubt he is injured, have him look at one of the eye charts somebody posted around here somewhere : ) .... I have been hit in the eye off a mirror reflection with my dx200 when it was kicking out 170mw and my eyes are fine luckily : ) but ya you should be more careful or where goggles.

30mw with like 1/10 seconds exposure got me a blindspot that lasted several months, go see an optometrist for sure.

So, if I read the 1st post correctly.. the laser was on, then went off, so your friend looked into the aperture?:wtf:

I do hope he's Ok, but that pops into my head as a cartoon where the guy pulls the trigger on his gun, it doesn't fire, so he looks down the barrel.

This is a good example of someone who should not be handling a laser. IMO.

I already told him to go.. anyway, what did you to to make the spot worn out?
