Hi all, (I hope this is the right sub forum to post in) first post and new member here from Australia. Great resource and community you guys have!

My love of lasers began in the mid 90's, where i had the opportunity to control a friends argon laser he built from parts, including home built DAC and live controlled laser software.

I have been reading much on LPF, PL and LB, learning all that i can about lasers and custom building an RGB laser projector. .

While i understand, i should start with the odd laser pointer build (AXIZ, O-like modules), as a way to familiarize myself with lasers. Unfortunately, greater than 1mw laser pointers are banned (without a license?) in Australia due to a number of IQ deficient idiots pointing lasers at aircraft and police helicopters.

I was thinking of either RGB or RGV projector with analog modulation similar to Andy_Con's build here http://laserpointerforums.com/f47/my-tiny-tiny-1watt-rgv-build-44594.html.

what do you all think?.

Build:
Red 250mw> 635 laserwave module
or
Red dual 275mw red 660nm diode build

Green 150mw> Laserwave module
Blue 100mw> 473nm laserwave module
or
Blue dual 215nm blue 405 diode build
Galvos:
z30s from Laserpic or Scanpro30's from Lasershow Parts
I thought about ScanLSPs but i was advised they are not so great.
RGB Dichroic kit to suite
DAC from Pangolin (FB3)

I would have to ask someone trusted here to build the dual diode builds with Dr Lavas driver with laser orb added - as this is something i couldn't do.
I've searched for a detailed build on dual builds but thus far has proved elusive.

Cheers
Greg

Revised build is as follows

Dual or Quad build with 660 Red LOC Diodes (build to include lasorbs, flexmod 3 etc)
Green ?
Blue 445nm build running at 300 to 500mw

RGB kit to suit

DZE Breakout board

Scanners - Lasershowparts :)

DAC (Undecided)

Case?

use open can diodes for your red, you will get a much better beam.

2x 250mw will give you 500mw of 660nm

if you can afford it use 473nm and 405nm, will give you some excellent colours.

405 is so dark which isnt great for projectors

if your interested i have 3x adjustable mirror mounts for sale

£20 each

I am in the process of putting together something very similar...almost identical!

I am using a dual 2 X LOC Diode with A Flexmod/Lasorb (Andy's dual diode mount makes life a bit easier)

My Green will be the same Laserwave and in the future I have left room for the Laserwave 100 473nm

The mounts Andy has for sale (above) are excellent for your mirrors & dichros although for the dual red setup I am trying to get a couple or Mr_Willings little adjustable mounts for the mirror and cube.

Pangolin FB3....now your talking!

DT25 scanset going in mine.

Just got my case sorted and will start mounting stuff soon.

Good luck and keep us updated.

This project is coming along slow (much like shipping to Australia)

Blue -
1 x 445nm diode (Shipped)
laserbug for 445nm (Ordered)
Flexmod 3 (Ordered)
Set at ?

DZE Breakout board (Screw version)

:/

Cheers

I am doing a similar build. I need to grab a few Flexmods next.

With 200mW of 532, I am aiming for around 800mW of 445 and 660 or 650.

Hey Dnar is your green laser from the site i asked about in a PM? The green is Analog modulation from memory but with a high IR output?

The 532 I am putting behind my DT30 build will be a new 200mW analog module, yet to source.
