What's with the long sleeve shirt. I thought it would be pretty hot there. Is it to counter the wind?

Great images, the ones you have posted of the pyramid/pyramids--post more if you have some other good ones of the pyramids.

Have not been there to see them in person yet but have been thinking of creating a business excuse to go to Egypt during the past few months so I can visit them and other antiquity sites for reasons unknown---just something I want to do.
I studied Middle Egyptian Hieroglyphics as a teen--still have the excellent 1957 edition Oxford book "Egyptian Grammar" by Sir Alan Gardiner which is considered to this day to be the most thorough textbook of the Egyptian language in existence that I studied way back then.
Have always been intrigued by and curious about the ancient language and communications in general from that time.
Have had an interest in the history, culture, technology, knowledge, and language of Egypt in ancient times from my teenage years onward.

Hi Alaskan,
These pics from Egypt are really nice. Due to the world politics I am sure most of us will never make it to Egypt. I know in the past year or so, they opened a museum dedicated to only the King Tutankhamen treasures, and have put out items that have been in storage since the original find. I have taken the poor mans route to photograph pyramids, and that is various Mayan ruins in Yucatan, Mexico. Though these days Mexico isn't too much safer than Eqypt.

You are a far way from home Alaskan. Stay Safe!

Great picture of the Sphinx. Not too many Americans get a chance to visit those ancient monuments. Thanks for sharing your photos. :yh:

That is just a FANTASTIC picture! I really like the expression of the camel

Ditto--that one is a keeper for sure.

Curtis, Paul, Encap and Bruce

I had another day off today, couldn't let it go to waste while here.

Good thing you didn't let it go to waste.
You are a lucky guy to be able to get a picture like that.
That your work takes you so many uncommon places where you can get shots like that is a nice side benefit. Not many get the chance.
Visiting the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt is on many people’s bucket list. The Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest monument on the list of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It is also the only one left standing.

If you get a chance there are three pyramids of the Queens of Cheops and you can go inside the one in the middle for free.

Don't forget to see the Egyptian Museum while there.

Great picture--really nice. Thanks for posting :gj:

What an excellent pic. Thanks a lot for sharing Chris. That's one for the memories.

I had a huge laugh when I saw that picture of you on the camel. I think the caption should be brothers in arms. ;)

Sorry, Chris. It was a poorly worded inference that there was a resemblance in the facial features. :p
