Pits being mean has nothing to do with them being pits. It all comes from how the owner raises and trains them.
Thats not entirely true. My friends family used to raise them for fighting, and its the dogs natural instinct to be agressive. This doesnt mean you cant have a lovey, dovey, pit. What it does mean is they can revert to that instinct at any time. You cannot breed it out of the dog by giving it a good and loving home. Most of the horror stories you read about were all loving dogs that had something trigger their instinct. Female, and neutered pits are the safest, but by no means would I put a baby near them. All it takes is some freak incident to put them in a rant. And when they are ranting they are blind to any control. My X GF was bit when she was 12 by the most friendliest pit you'll ever meet. The dog was brought up in a good home with other children. The only thing that saved her life was the owner was packing, and dropped the dog in front of her. No lie. She is scared mentally, and physically for life. So please, next time you think the dogs are safe, read the WHOLE stories, and dont make excuses for the dogs behavior. They were bred for their aggression, and hunting ability. They were not bred as the family dog. No matter how good you treat that dog you will never change its basic instinct.
I do agree with some of what your saying

Meet Rocky. He turned 4 months old on August 3rd. I'll be taking him to a lake this Friday. Hopefully he'll be willing to go into deeper water.
His ears look like little horns in this picture. Maybe that's his devilish side showing! LOL
I wish he wasn't moving so fast for this picture.
Into the pool...
...Grabbing the stick...
...And out with the stick
You do realize, depending on what part of Florida you live in, that picture you posted with your baby and dog can have you arrested for child endangerment, your dog destroyed, and have the local child welfare department reviewing your living situation? This is no joke, and the reality of the situation.
I like pitbulls, always have. But I would never mix children in with the dog. No matter what you say, you cant control that dog, and an accident can happen in less than 3 seconds. You could never react that fast.
Of coarse I know the law, I live in central FL and no such laws exist here. NO I cannot be arrested for allowing my son and dog to play together.
I am appalled at your lack of understanding of this situation. You have insulted my intelligence TJ! Do you realize how many people have pitts that freely interact with their children with absolutely no ill effect.
The Truth About Pitbulls " It can be estimated that for every Pit Bull who kills, there are 10.5 MILLION that DON'T!"
Maybe consult an expert as I have. Cesar Millan's Official Website | Achieving balance between people and dogs.
I know you can be like trying to talk to a wall sometimes, but we may have to agree to disagree here TJ. Don't get your panties in a bunch now.:shhh: I'm done with this subject! Moving on to more productive things, thanks for the advice though.:tinfoil:
Now everyone needs to chill, and watch the video. I put my hot girlfriend in it so watch it damnit!
