There are many Damascus bars available on eBay and other places,
I've been wanting to buy a few and make some custom builds I think they would look awsome, but there not cheap, Makume gain is even nicer but finding a bar about 30mm wide and 160mm length isn't that easy, anyway if anyone has done a host using these metals please make this thread all about it, I've seen some really nice Makume gain EDC build on the Candle power forum or similar but not a actual laser host, Here's an awsome example!

That is some beautiful material to make a one of a kind host from, but those prices aren't for the faint of heart.

@Encap, that ZrcuTi bar is stunning!

This stunning mixed metal can be found many places, I was hoping there were some builds out there to post on this thread, There are bars of Damascus on eBay for $150 that would make a wonderfull host I just haven't pulled the trigger yet, Adding links to sellers is all good thanks but I was hoping someone had something to show!

Here is a cheap one that would be great for a first try!

I had to go look to see what this stuff is, beautiful, but HEAVY.

12"custom HandMade Damascus Round Steel Bar For Knife Blade Making Supply #R20 | eBay

I'd like to buy a nice Damascus steel knife at some point. Just a kitchen knife or something, nothing too fancy. Some of them look absolutely beautiful.

Here's a picture of one from the channel I linked earlier. Look through the videos, he records the process from start to finish.

Alright, so I actually bought one of these damascus bars from ebay a bit ago and one Problem I had with them is that they are still made of standard carbon steel. They rust:(
Maybe you could find a way to apply a light millscale, or some sort of protective coating after you had worked out the host, but I haven't taken any time to find a good coating.

Also, another thing, the bars you see on ebay look to be made for making rings. There are small impurities in the bar along with pockets were the metal wasn't forged welded all the way through. So, small rings and such would be okay, but a host might be slightly difficult if you wanted it to be longer.

If you would like to try some stainless damascus or even titanium damascus you can google "Vegas Forge'. They make some excellent damascus round stock and they might even be willing to work on a better price if they're interested in your project.

Edit: I ended up cutting my bar in half and started the process of making a small knife. It's a work in progress.
Edit2: Encap got to mentioning Vegas Forge before me:whistle:
