Possible to mod a cheap red laser?

As the title said. But I noticed that there is no pot on my cheap $5-$10 dollar lasers. Is it still possible (more like, easy) to mod?

Thanks in advance!

They're not made to be modded, simple as that. There may be an exception out there somewhere, but for the majority of them any increase in voltage/current will simply kill them.

you might be able to mod 1 out of 10 maybe 1 mw more but its not worth it.

You can give it a cool paint job or put stickers on it. But as far as an internal modification for output power gain, not gonna happen.

EDIT: Although, if it takes those mini button cells, you can cut the spring shorter or make more room in the battery compartment and if you can shove a couple more of those little batteries in, it actually makes it brighter (at least with the ones I've tried it with).

I put like 20V through one of mines and got a significan't power increase.

For a few seconds that is  ::)

I love that "how to convert a cheap laser into burning laser" video. makes me laugh every time

Could you pot mod a 5mw pen-size red?

A few of these little lasers have a pot, most don't. However, the most I've ever gotten out of one was 7mW. Not worth the hassle.

Peace,

actually, you can mode a cheap red laser

desolder the original diode and replace it with a powerful red dvd laser ;)

I had a small red laser for my air soft gun and tried to put some more batteries in it and it fried the diode :(

No[/quote]

You can make a cheap red laser into a powerful red laser, just replace the whole laser! Duh!

Cheap red laser = weak diode, low output driver, weak batteries, a case, and a switch.
Strong red laser = strong diode, high output driver, strong batteries, a case, and a switch.

So just get a weak red laser, replace everything in it, and you've got a strong red laser!!!1!!juan

LOL @ juan :D :D :D

Yeah, it's not really a mod, more like a complete redesign. At least it will look the same, or somewhat the same. :P
