That's true, but is portability really worth $10,000? I think not (but I guess it depends on the person).. I don't think the rarity quite justifies that price either.

Well, if they have that kind of money to drop on a laser, then I don't think they need any sorrow. If one has that much muney to buy THAT, it's sure not all of their money.

If I had that kind of money, I'd go with Aries style green laser directly from CNI, highest power which is around 600mW average.
Get it through group buy and get overspec unit. All for 1/3 of the price of that thing.

And you load Herc with D cells.

I don't know about you folks, but you don't see many of those in Croatia.
And even if you do see them, you do not want to see a price tag.

Also, you are paying for the rarity of that 850 mW laser, read description below the list (if prices didn't blind you).
It says that production line throws out an huge overspecs like 850mW laser, so that is actually luck in production and efficiency achievement,
These are not produced that way.

But it kind of goes against logic, if they are producing 600mW laser and it throws out 800mW laser, why bump the price up 3 times, since it did not cost them anything?

Yeah I did notice that, but what;s the highest they DO produce? I mean, trying to make 600mw, and getting 850 is pretty damn crazy...IMO, maybe the physics behind it will show why it isn't really that odd, but it seems just nuts to me....

It's not that crazy, really. Whenever you buy a laser directly from a major manufacturer (CNI or Viasho in this case) their listed power ratings are "end of life" ratings. The output when new is typically as much as 30% more than rated. I have one CNI 1W head that came from the manufacturer. It tops out at 1.4W and never goes below 1.2W. I also have a CNI "1W" head that was bought through a reseller (Laserglow is a reseller) and the reseller guarantees "900mW-1W" of output. This means that it's not actually a CNI 1W head, it's more like a 700-800mW CNI head that the reseller sells as 1W because it'll make 1W most of the time.

Right, but those 900mw are 'freeak modules' so to speak, it even says so on their site. I hear they make UP TO 600mw INTENTIONALLY but they're spittin out 800-900mw lasers too...just seems a bit crazy.

1st rule of lasers: never trust what a reseller says on their site. Not that laserglow is disreputable, but many, many resellers restructure the manufacturer's power categories to suit their needs. In other words, they could just be saying that they're freaks on their site to increase interest. If the manufacturer is intentionally trying to make a 600mW laser, then in order for them to label it as a 600mW laser it should be making around 750-800+ mW when new. That's just how the high-end Chinese manufacturers work. If a laser makes around 600mW max, then they would sell it as a 400-500mW laser. They don't ship them to the reseller unless they're a bit over spec. Resellers often use this to their advantage by selling them as higher-powered lasers..
